BELITSKY - Mrs. Elsie Belitsky of Yorkton, formerly of Tiny passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of August 14th, 2013. Born Elsie Nina Haskewich on April 27th, 1927 to Vincent and Margaret Haskewich of the Badgerdale District. The eldest of five children, Elsie grew up on the family farm and attended Badgerdale School. On June 27th, 1948 Elsie was united in marriage to Bernard Edward Belitsky at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Tiny, Saskatchewan, and together they raised three children: Joanne, Brian, and Shelley. Elsie suffered an immense loss with the passing of her husband Bernard in 1974, and furthermore, played the role of both mother and father wonderfully to her three children. She was also predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Margaret Haskewich, and her brother, Bernard Haskewich. In 1968 Elsie began working at the Canora Union Hospital as part of the housekeeping staff. At the age of 63 Elsie retired and found a new home in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. She then had time to enjoy all the hobbies that she loved: gardening, cooking, shopping, and listening to country music. Family visits with her children and grandchildren were always a special time for Elsie. Elsie was an excellent cook and was known for preparing her favorite family recipes, particularly her specialty, cream chicken, for anyone who stopped by. Elsie was a long-time member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Canora, and later of St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton. Elsie maintained her home in Yorkton up until her health began to fail, at the age of 78. Prior to her passing in the summer in 2013, Elsie had the special opportunity of spending the day with all six of her great-grandchildren, some of her grandchildren, and all three of her children at the Yorkton Regional Nursing Home Fair. She leaves to cherish her many fond memories, her children: Joanne Godenir (Lyle) of Medicine Hat, Brian Belitsky (Marian) of Yorkton, and Shelley Kalin (Brian) of St. Albert; her grandchildren: Jarrett Godenir, Bryce Godenir (Alayne), Travis Godenir, Melissa Klapak (Tyson), Clint Belitsky (Lynsey), Chris Kalin (Alexis), and Kristi Kalin; her great-grandchildren: Nina and Claire Godenir, Emilee and Alexander Klapak, and Grey and Miller Kalin. She will also be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by her sisters, Adeline Harder and Vivian Haskewich, brother Lawrence Haskewich (Ethel), brother-in-law Lawrence Belitsky, and sister-in-laws, Vicki Haskewich and Isabelle Brezinski (Edmund). Also mourning her loss are numerous nieces, nephews, neighbours, and friends. The Prayer Service was held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Canora with Rev. Father Juanito Vargas as the Celebrant.
