Obituary of Edward E. Boehm

A memorial folder from the funeral service can be printed under the "Memories" tab, then click "Memorial Program". Edward Boehm was born June 18, 1931, the fourth of ten children to David and Molly (nee Frick) Boehm, at Rhein SK. Eddie was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Rhein. He also attended school in Rhein until grade eight then helped out on the family farm for a couple of years. After working on the farm he began building and repairing elevators for P&H for a number of years. Eddie concluded his working career as a Superintendent of Commercial Construction for 38 years with Weber Construction. He loved his job but his employees walked on eggshells on cement pouring days because he was a true perfectionist with his work. On August 10, 1957 Eddie married Lena Todoschuk at Christ Lutheran Church, Rhein. They were blessed with three children: Rogeryne, Darcy and Derek. Eddie was a gruff, straight forward and intimidating man on the outside with a great big teddy bear heart on the inside once you got to know him. A man with a strong work ethic - Eddie worked hard and played harder! In his younger years Eddie played fastball and later on coached the Rhein Rockets. He was a die-hard Maple Leaf and Blue Jay fan even though they never played up to his standards. Eddie also loved to watch curling, especially the Scotties and the Brier. Eddie never said "no" to a good card or crib game with anyone, and was happiest when he was beating Lena. He would say, "Game on, Lena!" Eddie loved to goose and deer hunt with his sons and grandsons. For many years up to and including 2012 Eddie was excited to guide his American hunting friends, and could not wait for them to arrive to tell them he had scouted out and knew "where the geese were" each year. He also enjoyed visiting with them. If you have never experienced Eddie's famous wild-goose and sweet dressing meal you have missed out - just ask any of the children. Eddie loved to cruise around town and country on a daily basis (as we all know!!!). Eddie's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy! He always made special time for each one of them. Sunday morning chats, 6:00am chats and after-school chats were important ways he touched base with all of them. These will be missed! Eddie passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 2:45 a.m. at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 82 years of age. He was predeceased by his son, Darcy in 1982; his wife, Lena in 2002; two brothers, Wilhelm and Rheinhold and two sisters, Audrey Elchuk and Viola Stricker. Eddie is survived by his daughter Rogeryne Herman and her family Kelly (Tina) Herman of Rhein, Carrie (Gary) Banerd of Saskatoon and Randy Herman of Rhein; his son, Derek (Joanna) Boehm and their two daughters, Makayla and Alexis; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Joshua and Raya Herman of Rhein, Kylee and Tenley Banerd of Saskatoon; one brother, Arnie Boehm of Rhein; sisters, Irene Koch of Esterhazy, Florence Matechuk, Shirley (Bob) Gavlas and Barb (Jim) McDougall all of Yorkton, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. A visitation for family and friends was held on Monday, August 5, 2013 at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from Christ Lutheran Church in Rhein with Pastor Kim Sherwin officiating. The organist, Arlene Stiglitz led the congregation in the singing of the hymns "Church in the Wildwood", "Just As I Am" and "Lord Take My Hand and Lead Me".
