Obituary of Elmer Magerl

With fond memories and a deep sadness, we announce the passing of Elmer Magerl of Pioneer Village Nursing Home on July 8th, 2013 at the age of 76 years of age. Elmer was born on July 15, 1936 in the Killaly district of Saskatchewan, to John and Mary (nee Beutel) Magerl. He received his education at Gelowitz School and helped his parents on the farm. After his parents retired Elmer initially farmed the family farm for a few years then rented out the land. He later worked on construction from blasting ditch for the first TCPL pipeline through the shield, to doing carpentry on both the Cornwall Centre, and Upgrader, projects. Elmer umpired at sports days as a member of the Killaly Athletic Club. He enjoyed bus tours to many places in the world. He was especially proud of being a two-time cancer survivor. Elmer was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Magerl of Killaly, and his siblings Elsie, Anne, George, Olga, and Jerald. He is survived by his sister Bernice (Wendel) Streifel, 18 nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives. Memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Elizabeth's Parish Cemetery Fund or Mass Offerings as gifts of remembrance.
