SHUL - Rose Shul late of Regina and formerly of Ituna, wife of the Late Peter Shul, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the age of 84 years. The youngest of three children, Rose was born on August 3, 1928 to Steve and Mary Kolody (nee Macuik). She was raised on the family farm in the Goodeve district. On June 16, 1957 she married Peter Shul at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. Two weeks after the wedding they moved to Regina. Missing the farm life, the following year brought them back to Ituna. They lived on the farm at the junction of highway 52 and 310, about four miles northeast of Ituna. They retired to Ituna in the fall of 1994. Mom was an avid gardener and kept her house and yard always looking neat. She loved playing cards and lately learned to play Rummy with her friends at St. Basil's Manor in Regina. She was kind and loving, her home was always open to others where she enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Baba as she was known, loved her family and especially her four grandchildren which she kept dear to her heart. Mom had a strong faith in God which she instilled in her family. She was predeceased by her husband Peter in 2004, her mother Mary and father Steve Kolody, her brother Bill Kolody and brother in-law Joe Mucha. As we celebrate her life, she is lovingly remembered by her son Clarence (Debbie) Shul, grandchildren Kellen and Brenna of Martensville; daughter Wendy (Norm) Halipchak, grandchildren Carson and Kylee of Pilot Butte; her sister Olga Mucha and numerous relatives and friends. Mom is in our prayers and thoughts until we meet again. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Prayer Services were held on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 preceded by the praying of the rosary led by members of the UCWLC. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna with Very Rev. Father Boris Kyba, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. Granddaughters, Kylee Halipchak and Brenna Shul served as the cross bearers. The Epistle was read by Darlene Krikau.
