DEROW - The family of Randy James Derow, aged 60 years of Theodore, widower of the late Carol Derow, formerly of the Springside district, wishes to announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, June 18th, 2013. Randy was born August 19, 1952 to the parents of John and Anne (nee Byblow) and was raised on the family farm north of Springside. Randy attended the Good Luck, Composite and Regional High School. Following graduation Randy stayed on the family farm to help his Mom and Dad and with the passing of Randy's father John in 1979 Randy took over the farm and continued to farm until 2005. Randy loved the farm, especially harvesting time. In the late 90's Randy started his own custom harvesting "Derow Custom Harvesting" and continued this until health forced him to quit in 2006. While on the farm when Randy wasn't busy seeding, haying or harvesting, you could find him in his workshop building. Some of his custom builds included a Bale Trailer, Combine Trailer, Trailer for his Straight Cut Header, Cattle Trailer and Front End Loader for his tractor. Randy also enjoyed hunting and fishing. At a Valentine's dance in 1982, Randy met "Carol" the love of his life and they were married on February 13, 1992. Randy became an instant father when they met, as Carol had five children from a previous marriage. You would always see them together just driving around the countryside visiting with friends and neighbors or fishing at the local Theodore Dam and Whitesand River. You rarely seen one without the other. On January 30, 1988 was the arrival of their first Grandson Brett. Randy and Brett spent countless hours together and had a very special bond which continued until his passing. Randy's other Grandson Shawn arrived on September 21, 1993. Predeceased by his father John in 1979; his mother Anne in 2001; his wife Carol in 2003 and step-daughter Brenda in 2011, Randy leaves to cherish his memory his brother Wally of White City; nephews Tyler, Justyn and Jayson all of White City. Step-children Richard (Brenda) Zenkawich and son Shawn of Yorkton, Chris (Murray) Harris of Yorkton, Terry (Cari) Zenkawich of Snowflake, Arizona and Jason Zenkawich of Vancouver, son-in-law Glen and grandson Brett of Yorkton. The Prayer Service was held on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home in Yorkton. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Peter Pidskalny, C.Ss.R. officiating.
