Mr Heshka was an inspirational teacher, always fair and always there when you needed some advice. What other teacher would pile us into his treasured Camero and take us to A&W for lunch? A great guy. I didn't have much interest or aptitude for education during my time at St Joe's/Sacred Heart but I remember Mr Heshka's words of wisdom when I was finishing my Master's later on. Thank you sir.

Great men leave large legacies. Mr. Heshka's legacy is huge: he touched many lives and shaped mine. He was one of my favorite teachers. Hugs to his family and friends.

I have such happy memories of time spent with Ernie during my years at SHHS, 1983-96. Absolutely dedicated to his work with senior English classes, Yearbook and so many other involvements in school life. After classes, I rarely saw him without a pile of books under his arm, to be corrected later, and yet, he always had the time for a joke, a smile, a touch of advice or something that he knew would make your day brighter. a really good guy! The type who would be sorely missed by any group of educators. So sorry to hear that you have gone, Ernie!!

Our sincerest condolences to the Heshka family. We were saddened to hear of Ernie's passing, and will miss the friendly wave and visits by my shop that we enjoyed as Ernie travelled to and from the farm past our place. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ernie's professional and private life persona had an amazing and positive impact on those he encountered throughout his life. His legacy will be that he has achieved what many of us strive to do -- enhance the world -- leave it in a better state than when we started. Ernie was truly a special person, we will miss him. My prayers and condolences. Tony Demchuk, Class of '75 Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA

I have a lot of memories of Mr. Heshka, but what will always stand out for me was his sense of humour and his wit. While at SHHS from 1976 to 1980 I was at times in his good books and also felt his wrath. I may not have shown it but I did respect him. Gone too young, you will be missed. Rest in peace, Mr. Heshka.

I have great memories of Mr. Heshka in high school at SHHS - he taught me in English and Law, two of my favorite subjects so naturally he had my respect! I ran into him several times over the years after high school - at WRC in Regina when he was visiting his mom or around Yorkton. He was always ready for a chat and it was remarkable that he remembered his students - as he had so many over the years. He will be missed. He made a difference!

Ernie (Mr. Heshka to me) was my absolute favorite teacher at Sacred Heart. He was my English and Law Teacher and nurtured my love of reading that to this day I still read the classics but without doing the required book reports! I will always remember his kindness and his sense of humor. Pat you have my heartfelt condolences.
