ANDRUSYK - Mrs. Annie Andrusyk of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, wife of the late John Andrusyk, formerly of Melville and the Goodeve district passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013. She was ninety four years of age. Annie was born on August 25, 1918 to Nick and Katie Stelmachovich at Birmingham, Saskatchewan. Annie attended Birmingham School and loved every minute she attended. But being the eldest daughter came responsibilities at home and her years of education were cut short. On November 16, 1939, Mom married our Dad - John Andrusyk. They were blessed with six children, Russell, Walter, Nick, Pauline, Janet and Bernice. They were also blessed with sixteen Grandchildren, Twenty three Great Grandchildren, and one Great-Great Grandson. Mom and Dad farmed in the Goodeve District for 32 years until they retired from farming and moved to Melville. Mom worked for eight years at the St Paul's Nursing Home before she retired. Mom enjoyed the Ukrainian Orthodox Ladies Club, she was active in her church and community. Mom always loved gardening - vegetables and flowers, but cooking and baking were her passion. She loved to serve perogies and mushroom sauce and cabbage rolls, we all indulged ourselves, until we could eat no more. We were just as happy when she sent all the leftovers home with us. In 1990 Dad passed away and Mom lived in their home in Melville until 1998 when she moved to the Heritage Villas. She loved the socials, Bingo and coffee! Mom was so proud of each new generation in our family. She loved and talked about each new baby as they were our gift and we were so blessed. Her legacy will be the strength and joy that we inherited. When Mom fell in her home in 2008, she could no longer live independently. She was placed in the Sunrise Nursing Home in Yorkton. Mom loved the nursing home, it gave her a sense of community. The staff always had a few extra minutes to spend with her, which made her happy every day. We are all blessed to call her our Mother, our Grandmother, our Great Grandmother and our Great Great Grandmother. Left to celebrate Annie's life are her beloved family, her six children, three sons, and three daughters and their families: sons, Russell (Irene), Walter (Kathy) and Nick (Joan); daughters, Pauline (Harold) Isfeld, Janet (Rod) Fidler and Bernice (Alan) Groff; twelve grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren and one great great grandson; her sister, Nettie Pryhitka, and sister-in-law Annie Shlachetka and numerous nieces and nephews.
