A memorial folder from the funeral service can be printed under the "Memories" tab, then click "Memorial Program" On April 21, 2013 Black Eagle Woman (Mah - Ka - Tay - O Kinew E-Kwai) - Eulalie Steininger (nee Pelletier); our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and dear friend made her journey into the land of our ancestors. Eula left peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was 70 years of age. Eula was predeceased by her parents Daniel and Elysa (nee Cappo) Pelletier; brothers Donald and Ivan; sisters Yvonne and Lorena; brother-in-law Solomon Hall; nieces Ivy Redgun (nee Pelletier), Stacey Brass and Christine Cote; nephew Ronnie Hall; soul mate, best friend and former husband Oscar Steininger and dear friends Leona Steininger (nee Gottfried) and Wilfred Dubois. Eula leaves to cherish her memory, her only child Yvonne Steininger of Regina and grandsons Kolton, Dalton and Lanston, all of Yorkton and adopted grandson Nathan Mitchell of Regina; her sisters Geraldine Pelletier of Regina, Merylene Lorenz of Yorkton and Mary Hall of Sioux Valley, Manitoba and brother Donald (Muriel) Pelletier of Regina. All of her Cappo relatives of Muscowpetung First Nation and her vast Pelletier family consisting of numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; special nieces Dellia (Sid) Pelletier of Regina, Kim Acoose-Pelletier of Regina, Sharon (Russell) Pelletier of Regina, Darcy Pelletier of Yorkton Marcy (Lawrence) Pelletier of Qu'Appelle; sister-in-law Kimberly Cote; special nephews Daniel (Donna) Pelletier of Cochrane, AB, Brian (Valerie) Pelletier of Saskatoon, Patrick Pelletier of Regina and Todd Cappo of Muscowpetung First Nation; and great niece Michelle (Barry) Kennedy of the Melville area. Eulalie attended Sacred Heart Academy in Regina and upon completion of her education she pursued a career as a secretary working in law firms and for federal and provincial governments. Very early on in her career Eula also enjoyed a successful modelling career and was voted Miss Saskatchewan Roughrider runner up and subsequently modelled in Canada and the USA. In 1965, Oscar Steininger began his courtship with Eulalie. In 1973 Eulalie's only child was born, a daughter Yvonne. In 1981 Eula and Oscar bought their first hotel in Midale, Saskatchewan and in 1986 they bought their second hotel in Outlook, Saskatchewan. Eula then worked for many years for the File Hills Qu'Appelle Tribal Council in the early 1990's and later as an employment counsellor with the First Nation's Employment Centre in Regina. Upon her retirement in 2008, Eula moved back to the family homestead south of Yorkton. Eula was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 10 years. She loved music and played both guitar and piano. Eulalie had a great passion for literature and history and could always be found with a book in hand. Eulalie was a courageous, strong, loving, kind and generous woman who was quick to speak up for what she believed in. She will be forever loved and missed by those who knew her.
