Obituary of Conrad Maserek

Conrad Carl Maserek was born on November 29, 1919 at the farm home in the Waldron district to John Maserek and Annie (nee Price) Maserek. Conrad was raised on the family farm and received his education at the Happy Home School. At the age of 19, Conrad was inducted into the Canadian Armed Forces. He served with the Royal Canadian Engineers NO 8 Regiment where he received his training in Canada. He then shipped overseas where he was stationed in England. Conrad served from May 20, 1939 to February 14, 1945. He returned home where he met the love of his life, Pearl Osicki. They were united in marriage on June 26, 1947 at the East Precious Blood Church. Their marriage was blessed with three children; Sharon, John and Karen. Conrad and Pearl settled on the Maserek homestead where they farmed for many years. In 1962, they moved to Melville where Conrad took employment with the Red Star Garage as a mechanic. He continued to farm during this time with his brother Ted. In 1969, Conrad and Pearl purchased the West End Grocery on Third Avenue West. They operated the store for eleven years whereupon the business was sold. Conrad enjoyed life. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing and everything that went with it. Any reason to go to the lake and catch the "Big One" was never ignored. He enjoyed people and was a pleasure to know by everyone who met him. Conrad took great enjoyment from being with his family and sharing all the activities of his children, grand children and great grand children. Conrad was very active throughout his life as was evident by the fact that he remained in his home up until the time of his passing. Conrad passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the age of 93 years. We will miss him.
