Obituary of Olga Dmyterko

DMYTERKO - Olga Dymterko of Ituna, Saskatchewan entered her eternal rest, peacefully, on Monday April 8, 2013 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina at the age of 83 years. Olga was born to Alex and Anna (nee Kolikowich) Harasym, on May 9, 1929 in the Hubbard district of Saskatchewan. Olga received her education at Stanislaus School and helped her parents on the family farm. As a young adult Olga ventured to Ontario for a short period where she lived with her aunt. Later, returning to Ituna, she worked as a clerk in a grocery and clothing store. On November 18, 1951 Olga was united in marriage to Nick Dmyterko at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. Following the birth of their first son, Brian, the family temporarily relocated to Regina while Olga took a hairdressing course. After receiving her diploma they returned to Ituna where Olga began a successful hairdressing career. They were blessed with a second son, Elmer. Hairstyling for the next 50 years, Olga set the curls and cuts of many; children to bridal parties, farmers to seniors, and many of her lifelong friends. She continued to do the odd trim until her health failed in the later months of 2012. Olga loved spending time with family, hosting many wonderful Easter and Christmas gatherings. She enjoyed playing bingo and travelling. Olga spent time teaching the grandchildren to drive, to make buns, perogies and "Baba" soup. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church and sang in the choir in her early years. Olga was predeceased by her husband Nick, father Alex, mother Anna, stepfather John Nakonechny and brother Orest Harasym. Olga leaves to cherish her memory her two sons and their families, Brian (Sylvia) of Regina and their children Ayla and Nicholas; and Elmer (Cindy) of Regina and their children Jayson and Janessa; brothers Jim (Joyce) Harasym and Donald (Gloria) Nakonechny; sisters-in-law Mary Koback and Frances Krushen; as well as nieces, nephews, Nick's family and friends.
