Obituary of Lawrence St. Pierre

ST. PIERRE - Mr. Lawrence St. Pierre of Springside passed away March 2, 2013 at the age of 72 years. Lawrence was born at Crescent Lake, Saskatchewan on June 2, 1940 , a son of Alex and Mary St. Pierre. Lawrence grew up and received his education at Crescent Lake. He was united in marriage to Alice Pelletier and together they raised a son and two daughters. Lawrence always worked hard to provide for his family having a career from brick layer to AA counselor. Along with his family, Lawrence always prided himself on his 33 years of sobriety. He enjoyed old-time fiddle dances with his "dance partner", watching his children's activities, horseshoes, playing cards, going to the casino and the time spent with family and friends. Lawrence was blessed with four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, treasuring when they came home to see him. Throughout his medical issues, Lawrence always had his own "Angel", daughter Nola by his side. From his knees, kidney and heart conditions they faced it all together however, on the morning of Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, "his work was done". He joins his beloved wife, Alice. Lawrence leaves to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life his children: Lounna (Mark) Pelletier of Calgary, AB, Pernell (Chantel) St. Pierre of Fort Resolution, NWT and Nola St. Pierre of Springside, SK; his grandchildren, Allison, Mackenzie, Mathew and Alexandrea; two great grandchildren, Lillian and Jacob; brothers, Edwin (Harriette) St. Pierre of Yorkton, SK, Gerald (Bertha) St. Pierre of Yorkton, SK and Martin St. Pierre of Yorkton, SK; twin sister Florence Tregear of Moose Jaw, SK and many nieces and nephews. Lawrence was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Mary; and his sisters Laura, Stella and Lucy. Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 7, 2013 at the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Wednesday, March 6th at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey presiding. Remembrances were shared by Mackenzie Pelletier, Allison Pelletier and Karen Ayers. The hymns selected for the service were "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Mark Pelletier, Mathew St. Pierre, Harold St. Pierre, Gerard St. Pierre, Justin St. Pierre and Dale St. Pierre serving as the casket bearers. The selection, "Go Rest High on That Mountain" was included in the committal service. Memorials in Lawrence's name may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Saskatchewan.
