Metro was also one of the founding members of the Canora Lions Club and remained active for many years. During this time, Metro also took care of his mother-in-law until her passing. Metro and Mary enjoyed many travels after retirement including such things as Bus Tours of Europe and the Atlantic provinces, a Farmers tour of Australia & New Zealand, Alaska & Panama Canal Cruises, family trips to Disney in both California and Florida, BC Fruit Trips, and later an annual visit to Vancouver to visit their granddaughter. Metro also kept very busy watching his granddaughters at many volleyball, basketball and baseball games, often driving them to and from practices and for hot lunches during the school days. His love of watching his grandkids activities continued on as he thoroughly enjoyed watching his two great grandchildren grow up and play Soccer, Hockey, Football, and Baseball in Saskatoon.
