Obituary of Peter Ellaschuk

ELLASCHUK - Mr. Peter Ellaschuk of Regina, formerly of the Wroxton district passed away on January 26, 2013 at the age of 78 years. Peter Nick was born April 10th, 1934 at Wroxton, SK to Nickolas George and Helen (nee Wintonyk) Ellaschuk. He was baptized July 12th, 1953. He attended the local school of Chaucer #1666, at this school he loved to play soft ball and cricket as well as dodge ball and soccer. He was an Honor Student. In his teens he became a farmer. When his father passed away he, with his mother managed the farming operations. He with his cousins loved to go the local community Saturday night dances that were held in the Community Halls of Wroxton, Calder, Stornoway and Saltcoats. He loved to go to the horse races held in Saltcoats on the 1st of July every year and the sports field days and dances on July 1st, every year in various towns. Peter was never married and had no children, but he loved all his nieces and nephews, they are; Joanne Elizabeth Page-Shaban, David Michael Page, Paul Maguire, Marylyn Maguire, Carol Maguire and Michael Maguire, also his great nieces and nephews; Jonathan Shaban, Robin Shaban, Dewey Jacob Page, Alexis Elizabeth Page, Shannon Maguire & Evelyn Maguire. Also Darby Maguire and Kirby Maguire. He also loved his sisters Pauline Ellaschuk-Page, Victoria Ellaschuk-Maguire and Elizabeth Ellaschuk. Peter, the deceased and beloved is survived by all of the above mentioned family members that with anticipation he loved to welcome to his place at the farm. He loved to go to church to Kamsack when Rev. James Elaschuk was the Pastor there. He also went to church in Swan River when Rev. N Rumak was Pastor and he went to very many funerals of people that he associated with. In the summer most services were at Swan River or York Lake and many people had Christian Baptism by deep water submersion and there was singing and music of Christian anthems at the Baptismal services beside the lake or river. He loved to feed all the wild birds that came to the house to be fed and he loved to take care of the flowers and garden. In the autumn Peter loved to go deer hunting with his cousins. Predeceased are his father Nick G. Ellaschuk, aged 68 years, mother Helen Wintonyk-Ellaschuk, age 88 years and infant Marislow Ellaschuk, 9 months old, who died of Pneumonia. Peter N. Ellaschuk always had God and Heaven in his mind. We say farewell to him and pray that Angels of God are singing songs of welcome to him in Heaven. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Pastor Jeff Dul of Trinity Lutheran Church in Churchbridge officiating. The organist, Amanda Buhler led in the singing of the hymns, "Morning Has Broken", "Now Thank We All Our God", "How Great Thou Art" and "Just As I Am". Reflections of Peter's life were shared by his sister, Victoria Maguire. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Len Varga, Orville Herron, Dean Petersen and Larry German serving as the casket bearers.
