Obituary of Mike Hiduk
A memorial folder from the funeral service may be printed under the "Memories" tab, then choose "Memorial Program". Mike Rudolph Hiduk was born November 10, 1927 in the Jedburgh district. He was the son of Dmytero and Maria (Bogutski) Hiduk. Mike attended Folkstone School, a one room school which was one and a half mile walk one way which he walked in all four seasons until Gr. 8. Then his help was needed to carry on the farming operation. Mike married the love of his life Marcella (nee Karapita) on May 31, 1953. They took over the family farm from Mike's parents where he resided until his unexpected passing. Mike and Marcella did everything together from working on the farm to travelling throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada They enjoyed Big Valley Jamboree, gambling tours and just being together. They were blessed with two sons Ron and Bob. Times were hard on the farm and Mike worked for many years for the Melville School Unit to make ends meet. Mike loved being on the farm. He took great pride in his farm, livestock and crops. He worked hard throughout his entire life, from seeding to harvest Mike was always there. In his later years he was always willing to help with anything. From building bins, going for parts, checking up on everyone with his daily drives around the country side. You always saw him with his favorite passenger Snoopy which he took everywhere with him. He was proud of his independence and enjoyed his many trips for groceries and meeting friends for coffee and dinner. He was involved in the grain club which he won many prizes for his grain. Mike served on the Folkstone school board, snow plow club, Jedburgh Rec board and a long time member of the Beaverdale Church as well. He was the manager of the Jedburgh Jets Senior hockey club where both of his sons played on the team with manygood times had at the house after the games. He really enjoyed bonspieling in Jedburgh at the local curling rink and always had a story to tell after the weekends. He took great pride in his grandchildren and watching them grow through the years growing up on the Suzuki and keeping them in line making sure they didn't get out of control. Mike also enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a master sausage maker making sure the recipe was just right. Mike was pre-deceased by his loving wife Marcella; Parents Dmytero and Maria Hiduk; father and mother in-law Mike and Minnie Karapita; sisters Adella Woytas, Anne Benko; infant brother John; Brothers in-law Nick Woytas, Metro Benko, Bill Zatwarnitski; nephew Michael Karapita. Mike will be forever remembered and missed by sons Ron (Geralyn) and Bob (Shelley); grandchildren Jason, Jesse (Marcy), Ashley (Nathan), Kenton (Taylor);sister in law Bernice Zatwarnitski; brothers in-law Adolph (Jeanette) Karapita, Frank (Adella) Karapita; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.
