Obituary of Leonard Schick

SCHICK - Leonard Frank Schick of the Balcarres Integrated Care Centre, beloved husband of Elsie Schick, entered his eternal rest on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. He was 87 years of age. Leonard was born on April 13,1925 a son to Karl and Elizabeth (nee Ruecker) Schick in the homestead farmhouse located NE 7 21 9 w2 in the Lemberg district. Leonard took over the family farm when he was seventeen. Leonard married Elsie Tressel on June 25, 1948 at Melville and were blessed with three children. The couple continued to farm on the homestead until April 2012 due to failing of Leonard's health. In June of 2012 he moved to the Balcarres Integrated Care Centre. At the age of seven Leonard started to play the guitar and later the accordion which led himself and Elsie to play and sing at many birthday parties, weddings, senior centre's and funerals. He also enjoyed square dancing, travelling, playing crib, spending time with his wife, son and grandchildren and farming. His passion was to never have a dirty car; he made sure it was washed before going anywhere. He was a member of the Lion's, the Church Board, South Lorlie School Board, Sask. Wheat Pool and the Co-op and taught wood working in 4-H. Predeceased by 2 daughters, Darlene and Donna in March 1973, parents, Karl and Elizabeth, brothers, John, Henry (Olga), Charlie (Anne), Jake; sisters Eva (Alf), Mary (Oscar), Anne (John), Minni (Anton), brothers-in-law, Ernie Schick, Ernie Tressel, Bill Rilling, Jake Tressel (Teenie) nephew Vic Rilling, Lynwood Schick and Donald Dreger. Leonard is survived by his wife Elsie, son Wayne, grandson Brandon Schick (Kathy McDougall), great grandchildren, Archer & Norah Schick, grandson Myles Schick, sister Caroline, sisters-in-law, Heddy Schick, Rose Schick, Frieda Tressel, Numerous nieces and nephews. The Memorial Service was held on Monday, January 7, 2013 from Trinity Lutheran Church in Lemberg with Pastor Victoria Mwamasika officiating.
