Obituary of Tom Murray

MURRAY - Our dear Dad, Husband, Grandfather Tom passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 very peacefully with his family beside him. Tom was born NWSec 34 Thp 42 Range 20 of 2 Meridian, Pathlow, Saskatchewan, the second youngest in a family of 9. He was always a very determined man demonstrated by the fact he had to take his High School by Correspondence and when Canada went to war in 1939 he enlisted even though he was not 21 years of age. He was discharged Feb.1946 and that fall was hired by Sask. Wheat Pool and worked as a grain buyer for the next 33 years. While buying grain in Arborfield he met Violet Margaret (Peggy) Belchamber and they married July 31,1949. After Peggy's passing he married Doreen Rundvall in Feb. 20,1995. Tom was involved in the Legion, the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Elks and Eastern Star. After Tom retired from the Wheat Pool, he found "retirement not for me", He then worked for another 12 years as a field inspector for the Department of Agriculture. In his actual retirement he enjoyed golf, playing cards, playing practical jokes, using his computer (yes he was actually on Facebook , Twitter and Skype). He loved going out for afternoon coffee with friends, family and always had a sweet tooth. He took advantage of any reason to have a party as he liked to be surrounded by family and friends. In his travels he always looked up family members wherever he went. His sense of humor was always designed to "get a rise" out of someone. Now we are left to miss that personality. He is predeceased by his first wife Violet Margaret (Peggy) Belchamber, his parents Joseph Robert and Mary Hannah (Sanderson) Murray all of his siblings Joseph(Joe), Frank, William(Bill), Cecil, Winnifred(Winnie), Kathleen(Kay), Eva, Mary and their spouses also brother in laws Patrick and Michael Belchamber, Ronald Banks sister in laws Eunice Zachow , Joyce Petrie and their spouses, also his daughter-in-law Ahne (Rich) Murray.
