Obituary of Bill Kirschman

KIRSCHMAN - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dad, papa, brother and uncle. William (Bill) Kirschman was taken away from his family on Thursday, December 20,2012 at the Regina General Hospital, Surgical Intensive Care Unit with his loving family by his side at the age of 51 years. William was born to Pearl (Young) and Leslie Kirschman on April 24th, 1961 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Bill was a hard worker: at a young age while still at home he went to work for Kirsch Construction as a highway construction worker; Venice House as a delivery person; Yorkton Bakery as a baker; Danny Lutz' as a semi-driver; Yorkton Metal; City Rad and Towing as a tow truck driver; Red Line Taxi as a taxi driver; and as a caregiver and foster parent. In 1994 he was united in marriage to Rose Young. This union was blessed with two daughters: Tanya & Leslie Dawn Beth. In 2005 with open arms and room in his heart Bill adopted Ashley, Dionne and Tyler. The same year he accepted Tanya's boyfriend Tommy into their family. With still more room in his heart he accepted Damara (Chantallie) Anderson and her daughter Summer. Bill had a farm near Melville where you could find him in the garden or working on vehicles. Bill was a very warm loving, caring and giving person. Bill loved coffee row and meeting new people in his life. Bill had many interests including fishing, derbys, chuckwagon races, garage sales, tinkering with vehicles, wrestling, tow truck driving and cab driving. Bill greatly enjoyed camping, quadding and holidays with his family and friends. Bills proudest times was spending time with his granddaughter Summer. Bill would play with her, cuddle and teach her new things. Bill loved it when he would get goosed by Summer. He always had a smile on his face when Summer was over. Bill would always tell everyone that Summer is his Brick of Gold. Bill was predeceased by his father Leslie (November 1960), mother Pearl (June 1995); wife Rose (November 2012), step brother David (Infancy), as well as other family members in the past year. He leaves to cherish his memory and to celebrate his life; daughters Tanya (Tommy) of Yorkton, Leslie (Dawn Beth) and Ashley of Yorkton; sons Dionne and Tyler of Yorkton; Damara Chantillie Anderson of Regina; grandaughter Summer (Birdie) of Regina. Also his sister: Helen Kirschman of Yorkton; step sisters Shirley DeRyk of Winnipeg, Joanne (Mike) Guay of Regina, Linda (Mike) Kuyek of Saskatoon: step brothers Dwayne Nowicki of Winnipeg, Ivan Nowicki of Theodore, Terry Bodnar of Theodore and Dave (Carla) Bodnar of Yorkton; numerous nieces, nephews and many other realtives and friends. Prayer services were held on Friday evening, December 28, 2012 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home with Crystal Bailey, Certified Funeral Celebrant officiating. A number of Bills favoite songs were played on CD, "Grandpa Tell Me About The Good Old Days", "Devoted To You", "Holes in the Floor of Heaven", "God Bless the Broken Road" and "Daddy's Hands". The funeral service was held on Saturday afternoon, December 29, 2012 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home. Major Ron Mailman, with assistance of Linda Mailman of the Salvation Army Corps., Yorkton officiated at the service and led in the singing of the hymns "Amazing Grace", "Mansions Over the Hilltops", "How Great Thou Art" and "The Sweet Bye & Bye" Tributes to Bill were given by Linda Dave, Crissy and Janet. The interment took place in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Mike Young, Dave Young, Matthew Bodnar, Charlie Johnson, Scott Johnson, Jason Maisey, Chris Folk, Doug Hull, Melvin Smith and Mike Kuyek as the casket bearers.
