CHOAT - William Choat husband of the late Mrs. Helen Choat of the Lestock, formerly of the Kellross district died on Dec. 17, 2012 at the Regina General Hospital. He was 80 years of age. William James Albert Choat was born on June 22, 1932 to James and Adeline (Hills) Choat on the homestead north of Leross. He was the second eldest of four children. He attended Clarkson and Ravine schools. After leaving school, he helped out on the family farm, as well as, lending a hand to nearby neighbours. William loved the country life and enjoyed all aspects of mixed farming. On July 23, 1956, he married his wife Helen Yanoshewski of 33 years and together they had five children: Myrna, Lorraine, Darrell, Barry, and Darcy. They worked together in the Viscount and Semans area at a dairy farm and various other jobs to support their family. In 1964, he returned to the Lestock area and resided on a farm with his family for several years. In 1971, William and Helen with their children purchased a farm north of Leross where they permanently resided. William was a hard worker and spent many long hours in the field. He was a devoted husband, father and friend and took great pride in all that he did. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved to go fishing, play cards, reading and going on vacations with Helen and relatives. He enjoyed watching the cattle in the pasture, the company of his German Shepherd's and going for a drive through the countryside. William was predeceased by his parents James and Adeline, wife Helen, and daughter Lorraine. He leaves his loved ones: daughter, Myrna: sons, Darrell, Barry, and Darcy (Brenda): grandchildren, Cara, Shayla, Brayden, Brandon: siblings, Hannah (Ed) Bazlik, Mabel (Victor) Riess, Ernie (Diane) Choat, sister- in-laws Jean (Earl) Peterson, Rose Miller, brother-in-law Sylvestor Yanoshewski as well as, numerous nieces nephews, cousins and friends. st Prayer Services were held on Friday, December 21 , from St. Vladimir's Church in Kelliher. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, December 22nd from St. Vladimir's Church in Kelliher with Rev. Brian Mee of the United Church of Canada officiating. The organist, Lenore Fincati led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'Bringing In the Sheaves' and 'We Shall Gather'. Piper, Robert McFadyen piped the recessional. Interment followed in the Choat Family plot in the Lestock Cemetery with Dan Yanoshewski, Joseph Yanoshewski, Lorne Axman, Mark McFie, Garet Riess and Jeff Riess serving as the casketbearers. Memorials in memory of William may be made to the Lestock Integrated Care Centre as gifts of remembrance. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com .
