KREPAKEVICH - Mr. Dan Krepakevich of Yorkton, formerly of the Hamton district, beloved husband of Doris Krepakevich passed away on November 27, 2012 with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 79 years of age. Daniel Allan Krepakevich was born to Fred and Martha (Zederayko) Krepakevich on August 11, 1933 on the family farm near Hamton. Dan attended Stawchan School and later studied Agriculture in Saskatoon. He was a farmer at heart. He started farming with his Dad and continued to farm with his son Lenard until his passing. In 1955, he married Stella Yurkiw and they were blessed with five children: Lenard, Alan, Denise, Joanne and Kevin. In 1980, he lost Stella in a car accident in the Canora area. In 1982, he married Doris (Kohlen) Letestu of Yorkton. Along with Doris came five daughters to add to his family but only Kevin and Marnie were living at home so they raised them together. In 1992, they built their new home in Yorkton and moved off the farm. Over the years, their blended family has enjoyed many holiday gatherings together. As a young father, Dan enjoyed coaching hockey, playing baseball and watching his children Ukrainian dance. He was also involved in 4-H. He loved to dance and later in life, he enjoyed camping and fishing with his children. He was a loving father and grandfather and had so much room in his heart for not only his own children but also his stepchildren and grandchildren. He was always so proud of their accomplishments. Dan had a large circle of friends and spent many hours enjoying their company over a game of cards or a round of horseshoes. He was kind hearted and fun loving and will always be remembered for his stories and jokes. Dan was involved in many community organizations including: Sask Wheat Pool for 30 years, Hamton Hall member for 30 years, Canora School Unit Trustee, R.M. of Sliding Hills #273 Councillor for 7 years, S.A.R.M. Sub-unit Director and Director for the Canora Seed Cleaning Co-op. He worked as a Fieldperson and Supervisor for Sask. Crop Insurance from 1980 to 1999. He was also an active member of the St.Gerard's Parish and helped with the catering of many functions. Dan is predeceased by his parents, his brother Carl and his wife Stella. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Doris, his children Lenard (Sandy), Alan, Denise (Larry), Joanne and Kevin (Donna). Also his step-daughters, Charlene, Deanna (Shawn), Carol (Darren), Gloria and Marnie (Jason). His 13 grandchildren, Chelsey (Cole) and Dustin (April) Krepakevich, Jade (Mike), Shaun (Dakota), Kelly and their dad Derry Michael, Carla (Steven) Noel, Josh (Natalia) and their dad Scott Edlin, Kane, Jasmine and their dad Rick Dawson, Jesse, Shane and their dad Donovan Williamson and Bailee and Austin Krupski. Also, great- grandchildren Beau and Cadence Edlin. He also leaves his brothers Gene (Gladys), Sunny (Doreen) and Jerry (Daphne), his sisters- in-law Lorna (Orest) Sackney and Annette (Stanley) Popowich and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Fr. Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. The cross bearer was Glen Brezinski and the gift bearers were Jason, Marnie, Bailee and Austin Krupski. The pianist, Katherine Flaman led members of St. Gerard's Choir in the singing of the hymns, "Be Not Afraid", "Psalm 33", "Prayer of St. Francis", "On Eagles Wings", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "Song of the Angels" and "For the Beauty of the Earth". The readings were given by Jasmine Dawson and Jason Popowich. The interment followed in the Garden of Gethsemane at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Grandsons, Dustin Krepakevich, Shaun Michael, Kelly Michael, Joshua Edlin, Kane Dawson, Jesse Williamson and Shane Williamson serving as the casket bearers. Memorials honouring Dan's life may be made to the Medical Equipment Fund at Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
