ELASCHUK - Jennie Elaschuk (nee Napady) went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 15, 2012. Jennie was born on February 1, 1925 to Metro & Mary Napady in the Big River district of Saskatchewan. As a child, Jennie attended Chaucer School near Wroxton, where she enjoyed playing softball. On November 4, 1945 Jennie was united in marriage to James Elaschuk. Their union was blessed with four children: Wilfred & Dennis, Leona & Ruth. Jennie enjoyed cooking, sewing, as well as gardening. She was known to grow large, beautiful gardens. She also helped out on the Elaschuk homestead with the livestock, flocks of chicken and grain farming. James & Jennie also pastored a church in Rhein & Kamsack for many years. Jennie's faith in God was her main strength. In 2002, James and Jennie took up residence in Yorkton at the Fairview Arms Apartments. She continued to reside there until June of 2012, when she moved to Aspen Bluffs Villa due to poor health. There she enjoyed playing bingo, setting puzzles & solving word search. Jennie was predeceased by her husband James on May 9, 2005; her parents, Metro & Mary; a brother Harry, sisters Ann & Nettie; and a granddaughter, Pamela Currah. Jennie leaves to celebrate her life and to cherish her memory: sons Wilfred (Phyllis) of Springside & Dennis (Valerie) of Wroxton; two daughters: Leona (Delbert) Currah of Lloydminster and Ruth (Dwight) Bornyk of Abbotsford BC; grandchildren: Lenora (Conrad) Kriger, Lorin (Danielle) & Lyndon (Alana) Elaschuk; Allan (Shaylene) Elaschuk & Bryan Elaschuk; Patrick (Kelly) Currah, Travis & Paige Currah; Corey (Andrea) Elaschuk, Taresa (Jason) Jones, Kailey & Brodie Elaschuk; twelve great grandchildren; and a brother Peter (Bernice) Napady of Springside, nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. Pastor Lawrence Trafford officiated. Grandson Travis Currah gave the eulogy. Organist, Amanda Buhler led the congegation in the singing of the hymns 'How Great Thou Art' and 'Safe in the Arms of Jesus'. Two of Jennie's favorite hymns were played on CD, 'If We Never Meet Again' and 'Look For Me'. Honorary bearers were Taresa Jones, Paige Currah and Brandon & Ryan Elaschuk. The interment took place in the Garden of St. Mark with Patrick, Travis & Brendan Currah, & Allan, Bryan and Brodie Ellaschuk serving as the casketbearers.
