Obituary of Margaret Ward

WARD - Margaret Ann Ward of the Yorkton District Nursing Home and formerly of Melville and Bangor entered her eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 with family at her side. Margaret was born July 21, 1926 in the Bangor District of Saskatchewan, a daughter to Karl and Margaret (nee Golling) Schlechter. Margaret received her education at the Bangor School and helped her parents on the family farm. After her schooling, Margaret worked at various farms in the area as a "hired girl." On October 27, 1952, Margaret was united in marriage to Frank Ward at Gerald, Saskatchewan. The couple moved to Manitoba for four years and then returned to the Bangor area where they farmed south of town. In 1980, their son Donald took over the farm and Margaret and Frank moved into Bangor. Margaret moved into the Senior's Units in Melville, later moving to Westview, then to the Care Home in Yorkton. While on the farm, Margaret actively helped with the farming. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed growing flowers, making crafts, playing cards and bingo as well as doing puzzles. She was a good cook and enjoyed baking and canning for her family and loved to sew in her spare time. She crocheted each of her grandchildren a bedspread, and a baby afghans for several of her great grandchildren. Margaret was a member of the A.C.W. in the Anglican Church, with the Happy Gang, and the Heritage Villa Group. In her younger years she liked to play baseball and enjoyed curling in many bonspiels in Bangor and nearby communities. Her most enjoyment was having her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren visit. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, a daughter in infancy, her daughter in law Linda Ward, son in law John Kormos, grandson Clayton Ward, great grandsons Levi Kormos and Jacob Kormos, two brothers, William and Joseph Schlechter, sister in laws Irene and Maxine Schlechter, brother in law Tony Varga,. She leaves to mourn her three sons, Douglas (Grace) Ward of Bangor, Donald (Betty) Ward of Bangor, and David (Adele) Ward of Leroy; two daughters Donna Kormos, Melville and Barbara (Barry) Stuckey of Yorkton, eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, four brothers, Leonard (Eva) Schlechter of Yorkton, Charlie Schlechter of Oshawa, ON, Rynold Schlechter of Melville, and Frank (Hilda) Schlechter of Oshawa, ON; one sister Betty Varga of Yorkton; one sister in-law Doreen Schlechter of Yorkton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church in Melville with Pastor Kim Sherwin Officiating. Honorary bearers were great grandchildren; Hunter Shmyr, Brady Shmyr, Cooper Leech, Emma Leech, Tahlya Rutten, Donavan Walz, Harmony Padley, Hailey Walz, Derrek Walz, Shelby Kunkel, Donovan Kunkel, Ashlyn Kormos, Jaxyn Kormos, Kyle Hansen, Kylana Kormos, Kolton Yewsuk and Brynleigh Yewsuk. The interment followed in the Bangor Cemetery with all of Margarets grandchildren; Carla Shmyr, Kristen Rutten, Alison Ward, Johanna Ward, Jamie Kunkel, Michael Ward, Jason Ward, Robin Bernhard, Wendy Baretto, Christine Hildebrandt, Terry Kormos, Randy Kormos, Marcy Yewsuk, Nancy Kormos, Jessica Stuckey, Carmina Stuckey, Tyson Stuckey and Darcy Stuckey acting as casketbearers. Arrangements were by Bailey's Funeral Home, Melville. Service Information Saturday, October 6th, 2012 2:00pm, All Saints Anglican Church Interment Details
