Obituary of Phyllis Johanna Zenkawich

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Johanna Zenkawich (Nee Dorosh). Phyllis passed away peacefully at St Paul's Lutheran Home, with her family at her side, on July 29, 2012, at the age of 68. Phyllis, given name Felice Johanna Dorosh, was born on June 28, 1944 in the Ituna rural district to Alex and Annie Dorosh (nee Yaschuk). Phyllis attended school in Ituna and graduated in 1962. Her working career included a wide variety of employment. She worked many years at Home Care in the Melville district and later started at St Peter's Hospital in Melville as a Dietary Aid. Upon successfully passing and completing her cooking requirements, she accepted the position of cook at St Peter's Hospital, from which she would later retire after 25 years of service. With a very positive attitude, Phyllis overcame many struggles and health challenges over the years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, watching hockey and playing bingo. Always excited to hear and brag about her children and grandchildren's accomplishments, no matter how big or small, Phyllis was very proud of her family, which is what made her the dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother she was. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Annie Dorosh, brother John Dorosh, and sister Ethel Klimack. Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are her four children, Glenda (Wally) Rokosh of Regina, Charlene (James) Doell of Saskatoon, Darcy (Tammy) Zenkawich of Red Deer, AB, and Bradley (Jenny) Zenkawich of Regina; six grandchildren, Tristan Rokosh, Tia Rokosh, Cayla Rokosh, Brittany Doell, Taylor Doell and James Doell Jr.; one great granddaughter, Brooklyn Doka; two brothers, Andrew Dorosh of Toronto, ON and Laverne Dorosh of Ituna; one sister, Helen Kilik of Kingston, ON; Sister in law, Steffa Dorosh of Regina and brother in law, Irwin Klimack of Regina, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 3rd, 2012 from St. Henry's Catholic Church Parish Centre in Melville officiated by Rev. Fr. Ray Lukie C.Ss.R. of St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment followed in the family plot in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery in Ituna. Memorials in memory of Phyllis may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Home as gifts of remembrance. The family wishes to express a very special thank you the staff of St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville for the warm, loving and excellent care mom received.
