Obituary of Dennis Kuzek

KUZEK - Mr. Dennis Kuzek, beloved husband, father and grandpa passed away peacefully on Saturday July 21, 2012 at the age of 52. Dennis was born in Theodore SK, on January 12, 1960. He attended school in Theodore and in 1975 started his first job working at Maydel Farms. Dennis was a Farmer, Truck Driver, Carpenter, Strawberry Farmer, Theodore Rink Ice Maker, Referee and Umpire. On July 21, 1978 he married his wife of 33 years Valerie Stadnyk and together they had five children: Clorice, Jennifer, Carla, Derek and Eric. Dennis was very devoted to his children and always put them first. He never missed a school concert, dance recital, baseball or hockey game. Dennis was very active and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing hockey and fastball and going fishing and hunting. One of his fondest memories was when he would take fishing trips to Armit Lake with his cousin Kenny. Dennis was also a very handy man. He liked to do renovations on the house and repair farm machinery and vehicles. Dennis took pride in everything he did and always made sure the lawn on the farm was golf green shape. He also had time for anyone, always lending a hand and helping out where he could. Dennis was predeceased by his father Bill in 2009 and father-in-law Matt in 1977. He leaves to mourn in his passing his wife Valerie; daughter Clorice (Curtis Roussin) of Yorkton, daughter Jennifer (Jeff) Ahlers of Calgary, daughter Carla (Matt) Milleker of Regina and sons, Derek of Calgary and Eric of Yellow Grass. Special to him were his grandchildren: Samantha, Kayla, Drew & Sarah. He also leaves to mourn his mother Mary of Theodore, his brother Raymond (Karen) Kuzek of Theodore, brother Randy (Iris) Kuzek of Lloydminister, mother-in-law Doris Stadnyk of Foam Lake; brother-in-law Ted (Roxanne) Stadnyk of Canora, brother-in-law Nestor (Irene) Stadnyk of St. Albert, brother-in-law Richard (Irene) Stadnyk of Canora, sister-in-law Carol (Henry) Popik of Foam Lake, sister- in-law Diane Stadnyk of Saskatoon, brother-in-law Dennis Stadnyk of Yellow Knife and brother-in-law Michael (Cari) Stadnyk of Penticton as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 and the Funeral Service on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The responses were led by Gerald Yaholnitsky and parish choir members. The cross bearer was Cameron Stadnyk. The interment followed in Interment St. John's Parish Cemetery (Riverside) with Brad Dareichuk, Gary Gawryliuk, Rick Gawryliuk, Dwayne Kitzan, Kenny Kuzek and Sandy Reed serving as the casket bearers. Following the lunch reception, Gary Gawryliuk shared the eulogy. Memorials in memory of Dennis may be made to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Riverside) as gifts of remembrance.
