Obituary of Annie Wessing
WESSING - Mrs. Annie Wessing of Yorkton passed away July 14, 2012 at Yorkton District Nursing Home. She was 88 years of age. Annie was born in the Churchill District near Ituna on January 1, 1924, the daughter of Tony and Rose (Fransishyn) Derkach. She attended school at Churchill School. Annie worked as a housekeeper in the area until she met John Wessing. On October 8, 1944 the couple was united in marriage. Annie and John started their farm in the Parkerview area where they raised eight children. The couple worked very hard on their farm where they raised cattle and operated a grain farm. In the late 1970's the couple sold their farm and continued to live there until 1982 when they moved to Sheho. In her retirement years she continued to be an avid gardener, she planted and looked after gardens for other people in town. She loved going out to family and friends farms to help with any work that need to be done. Another favourite thing of Annie's was having her grandchildren and great grandchildren come over for visits. She would teach them about gardening and share her love of her dogs. In 2004 Annie suffered a debilitating stoke were she was left partially paralyzed. Despite facing this traumatic experience Annie stayed as strong as ever and although she could not speak she found ways to communicate. Annie's strength is seen in her determination to stay active as a resident at the Theodore Health Centre where she helped with chores such as folding laundry, meal preparation and taking part in all the other various activities all of which she enjoyed very much. Annie leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory her seven children, Richard (Anna) of Ituna, Irvine (Shelia) of Kelliher, Jeanette (Norman) of Brandon, Donald (Elaine) of Kelliher, Angie of Melville, Randy (Heather) of Sheho and Eleanor of Sheho; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, sisters Mary Gulaga of Yorkton and Elizabeth Jarocki of Balcarres and Brother Edward Derkach of Cranbrook, British Columbia. Annie will be reunited with her husband John, her son Larry, parents Tony and Rose, brothers Donald, Mike and Walter and son in laws Randy Harrick and Almer Medvid.
