Obituary of Ferdinand Kopetzki

KOPETZKI -Ferdinand Kopetzki of Melville formerly of the Grayson district passed away on July 12, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville. He was eighty five years of age. Ferdinand was born December 22, 1926 in the Grayson district of Saskatchewan, a son to Peter and Theresa (nee Fuchs) Kopetzki. Ferdinand together with his brother Wilfred farmed the homestead for over sixty years. Farming consisted of grain farming and cattle. They also had a lush potato garden which kept them very busy. Ferdinand liked to play hockey and softball. He enjoyed old time music, visiting with friends, crossword puzzles and he also loved to read. Together with his best friend Jack Novak they enjoyed telling jokes and talking on the phone on a regular basis. Around eleven years ago they sold the homestead and moved into Melville. Approximately eight years ago Ferdinand lost most of his eye sight and had to give up reading but he kept in touch with Jack Novak on what was happening with the news and weather. Due to a bad cough Ferdinand ended up in St. Peters Hospital around the beginning of April, 2012. At the end of June he was transferred to St. Paul Lutheran Home until his passing on July 12, 2012 with family at his side. Ferdinand was eighty five years of age. Ferdinand was a very kind and gentle man whom would help anyone in trouble. Predeceased by his parents, Peter and Theresa Kopetzki, sister Mary; brother-in-law Adam Hanowski. Ferdinand leaves to cherish his memory, sister Matilda Hanowski and family, brother Wilfred, sister Irene Bernhardt (Ferdinand) and family, brother Ewald and family, brother Peter (Marjorie) and family, brother Siegfred, sister Theresa Hahn (Pat) and family as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Prayer Services were held on Sunday, July 15, 2012 from St. Henry's Roman Catholic Church in Melville. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, July 16, 2012 from St. Henry's Roman Catholic Church. Interment followed in St. Henry's Parish Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Ferdinand may be made to St. Peter's Hospital or to St. Henry's Parish Memorial Funds as gifts of remembrance.
