Obituary of Glenda Simpson

SIMPSON - I Glenda Marie Simpson (nee Hanowski) passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the age of 46 from breast cancer that then spread to my liver. I was born on October 15, 1965 to Adam and Matilda Hanowski at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville. I attended Killaly School during my elementary years up until Grade 9 and then attended high school at the Melville Comprehensive High School for Grades 10, 11 and 12. I also took one year of Post-Secondary Education at SIAST in Regina. At the time of my passing, I was employed at Saskatchewan WCB for the last 16 years and enjoyed my job. Growing up as a young girl on the farm, holds many memories for me. It was a mixed farm I grew up on. I also had two older sisters and one older and one younger brother. I did have lots of fun on the farm, but also there was lots of work to do as well. I remember having to herd the cows down the west road so they had more grass to eat. I remember helping Mom and Dad on the field getting the bales, I used to ride on the flat with my siblings sitting on the bales when they were brought into the farmyard and then loading them into the barn. It was lots of fun, but I always wore shorts and boy did my legs get scratched up from the bales. Mom and Dad also planted a huge garden every year and of course then I had to help pick peas, beans, and digging up potatoes was my favorite time, it was fun to see what was underneath that plant. I remember playing lots with my sisters and brothers. My sister Gladys and I played the most together. We would go for long bike rides in the country and go for walks in the field as well, we did almost everything together and that actually continued when I moved into Regina to live with her. On September 22, 1984, I met the man of my dreams, my husband Blaine Edwin Simpson. We were united in marriage on August 2, 1991. Blaine and I loved motorcycling and we used to go everywhere on that motorcycle and it was so much fun. Getting closer to retirement we were planning to go on many many more rides, however due to my health, this was not to happen. On May 18, 1994, my son Kurtis Edwin Simpson was born and then 7 years later on August 20, 2000 my daughter Kayla Marie Simpson was born. My children and husband were the love of my life and will be forever. I was predeceased by my dad Adam Hanowski on September 2, 2010. I have surviving me my loving husband Blaine Simpson, children Kurtis and Kayla. My mom Matilda Hanowski; my brother Harvey Hanowski, sister Theresa Hanowski and her partner Gary Ward and Theresa's children, my nieces Amanda and her children Deeghan and Dawntey and Amber and her child Evan, my other sister Gladys Weslowski along with her husband Royce and children Kristy and Chelsea and my brother Alvin Hanowski. Arrangements were by Bailey's Funeral Home, Melville.
