Obituary of Edward Krushen

KRUSHEN - Edward Arnold Krushen was born on August 30, 1923 in the Hubbard district of Saskatchewan; a son of Philip and Rose (nee Braden) Krushen. Ed was raised on the family farm and attended the Tullymet School until grade five. In 1936 the family went to Winnipeg, returning to the farm in 1938. The family continued to farm in the Tullymet district, and Ed eventually took over the farm in the late 1940's. On June 21st, 1947 he was united in marriage to Sophie Engel. In 1958 Ed purchased the Tullymet General Store, which they operated along with their farm. In 1964 the store was sold, and in 1966 Ed purchased land 1 mile south of Ituna. Throughout his lifetime, Ed had been a member of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool; a Charter member of the Ituna Lions Club, and had been involved with Ducks Unlimited. He and Sophie enjoyed travelling in their younger days, and in later years he and Frances were fortunate to have spent 12 winters in Mesa, Arizona. In August 2007, Ed suffered a debilitating stroke and thereafter, became a resident of the Ituna Pioneer Health Care Centre, where he resided until his passing on Wednesday, May 30th 2012.
