Obituary of John Stachyshyn

STACHYSHYN - John Stachyshyn of Ituna passed away following a brief illness on Monday, May 28th, 2012 at his home in Ituna. He was 86 years of age. John was born on June 10, 1925 in the Bedfordville district of Saskatchewan; a son of Walter and Nellie (nee Warsaba) Stachyshyn. John was raised on the family farm and as a young man worked as a farm hand and in bush camps for extra income. When he became able to afford to, John began farming for himself, and during his many years on the farm, he also worked at shingling houses, building the Pool Elevator building, and cutting grass for the RM. On July 10, 1965 he was united in marriage to Stella Lutz at Sacred Heart Church in Ituna. The couple farmed until their retirement to Ituna. John and Stella were faithful members of Sacred Heart Church throughout their lives. Predeceased by his beloved wife Stella on April 2nd, 2010; his mother Nellie in 1939; his father Walter in 1962; a brother in infancy; sisters-in-law, Annie Flinta and Helen Serelo; brothers-in-law John Flinta, Emil Lutz, Hal McGregor and Clarence Grabatin. He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers: Matt (Antonia), Steve (Marion), Bill (Shirley), Mike, Pete, Harry, and Alex (Diane); sisters: Eva McGregor, Mary Grabatin, and Anne Stanbury; numerous nieces, nephews, and his many other relatives and friends. Prayers were held on Friday evening, June 1st, 2012 from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Saturday, June 2nd from Sacred Heart Church with Very Rev. Father Boris Kyba CSs.R as Celebrant. Cantors, Wayne Boczulak & Ladmer Moskal led in the singing of the responses. The crossbearer was Jeanette Kutas. The interment took place in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with Alexander & Sheldon Stachyshyn, Brent Kutas, Dennis Serelo, Ron Volk and Ernie Lutz serving as the casketbearers.
