Obituary of Fred Danyliuk
DANYLIUK - It is with great sorrow that we announce Fred Danyliuk's passing at the Pasqua Hospital on April 12, 2012. He was 84 years of age. Fred was born in the Theodore district in May 31, 1927, the son of Wasyl and Helen Danyliuk (nee Marianchuk). He received his education at Westbrook Elementary and Theodore High School. He helped on the family farm and then moved to Regina where he worked at Sears, Canada for 35 years, retiring in 1992. Although Fred was a very private man, he enjoyed discussing various issues over a cup of coffee. While Fred travelled a couple of times to the United States with his buddies, he mostly enjoyed taking his summer vacation and spending it on the family farm, even engaging in some hard manual farm chores. After his retirement, he stayed in touch with his work friends through the Sears Retirement Club. He was a very avid reader and held a great interest in history. Fred was a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Westbrook for many years. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Wasyl and Helen; his brother Edward; two siblings in infancy, Samuel and Jean; his sister Eleanor Maleschuk on April 15th, 2012 and brother-in-law Alex Skrepnick. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, brothers Michael (Adele) of Saskatoon, Orest and Gordon of Saskatoon; sister June Skrepnick of Yorkton; sister-in-law Lena Danyliuk of Yorkton and brother - in - law John Maleschuk of Yorkton. Prayers were held on Tuesday, April 17th at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, April 18th at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The cantor, Gerald Yaholnitsky assisted by Parish Choir Members led in the singing of the responses. The cross bearer was Bryce Krawetz. The interment took place in the Garden of Crucifixion at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Dwain Maleschuk, Ryan Maleschuk, Rick Danyliuk, Ken Krawetz, David Wilson and Leonard Foster serving as the casket bearers. Reflections of Fred's life and word's of appreciation were shared by Gail Krawetz. Memorials honouring Fred's life may be made to a Charity of one's choice.
