Obituary of Andrew Tataryn

TATARYN - Mr. Andrew Tataryn of Wroxton entered eternal rest on April 8, 2012 at the Kamsack Hospital. He was 88 years of age. As we struggle to accept this huge loss in our lives, we pay tribute to a loving man who meant so much to all of us. Fond memories will warm our hearts forever. Andrew was born on August 9th, 1923 in the Wroxton district. He was one of seven children born to Matthew and Maria (Matsyk) Tataryn. They resided on the family farm east of Brandon School. Andrew attended Two Creeks School until Grade 8. He helped on the family farm until 1948, when he and his brother Nick bought and established Tataryn's Store in Wroxton. It was here he met Elsie Krochak. They were married on October 23, 1949 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. In 1956 Andrew and Elsie moved to the farm where they resided until their passing. They adopted two children, Richard John in 1962 and Karen Andrea in 1964. Andrew was an amazing man, as well as running a successful farm, he always made time to spend countless hours helping the community….being a member of the Wheat Pool, Brandon School Committee, Wroxton Rec Board, Wroxton 50 Plus, St. Vladimir & Olga Ukrainian Catholic Church and Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. He helped build Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Wroxton, and the Wroxton Recreation Centre. He served at the Altar at Sts. Peter & Paul Church until it's demolition. Andrew was meticulious when growing and tending his large garden, servicing equipment, pushing snow and cutting grass. He loved picking mushrooms and berries in the pasture and Sunday drives checking crops. A few years after the devastation of losing Elsie, his passion turned to his "little angels" great granddaughters, Legaci and Librehdi. They always made him "light up". His unconditional love, wisdom and generosity will be missed beyond words. Andrew was predeceased by siblings Harry and Irene in infancy; parents Matthew (1961), Maria (1972), father-in-law Wasyl (1955), mother-in-law Anna (1985); brothers Nick (1978), Sam (1983); sister Katherine Ury (2009); his loving wife Elsie (2004), brothers-in-law Nick and Joe Krochak, sisters-in-law Stephanie Edward, Mary Krochak, Mary Tataryn and nephew Devin Ury . Andrew leaves to cherish his memory his son Rick, daughter Karen (Gorden) Rubletz; grandchildren Jasmine (Marshall) Nagy of Yorkton and Jorden Rubletz of Yorkton and his cherished great granddaughters Legaci Olesha and Librehdi Kastle Nagy of Yorkton; one brother John Tataryn of Kelowna, BC; one brother-in-law Dr. Michael (Marie) Krochak of Saskatoon; sister-in-law Nancy Krochak of Edmonton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. Andrew will always be remembered as friendly and helpful. Prayers were held on Friday, April 13th and the Requiem Divine Liturgy on Saturday, April 14th from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Father Methodius Kushko, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ed Pindus, Colette Karapita and parish choir members.
