TYMIAK - Mr. Joe Tymiak, longtime Ituna resident, beloved husband of Emily, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Ituna & District Pioneer Lodge. He was 91 years of age. Joe was born December 10, 1920 on the family farm north-east of Jasmin. He was the youngest child of John and Frances Tymiak (nee Mazur). Joe's parents started out farming near Jasmin after their immigration from Ukraine to Canada in 1912. They later moved to Tadmore in 1931, then back again to Jasmin in 1940. Initially, Joe worked in Niagara Falls and then in Regina. In 1945, he moved one mile south of Jasmin to begin farming. Joe and Emily were married on May 18, 1947 in Ituna in the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church. Joe & Emily had one daughter, Shirley, who was born on August 6, 1948, and passed away on December 22, 2006. In 1960, Joe and Emily began their monument business while continuing to farm. In 1963, they moved to Ituna. They sold their farm in 1975 and continued to live in Ituna and operate the monument business. Full retirement occurred for Joe and Emily in 1996. On November 8, 2011, Joe became a resident of the Ituna Pioneer Lodge and remained there until his passing. Joe spent a lot of his time baby-sitting his grand- children and great grand-children, which gave him much joy. Joe's hobbies included playing cards, socializing, travelling, fishing, and wood working. He will be sadly missed by his wife Emily of 64 years, son-in law Ted Semchyshyn, grandson Dwayne Semchyshyn (Kathleen Kotylak, Kyle & Tyler), grand- daughter Michele (Glen) Kozak, and two great-granddaughters, Jamie and Kellie Kozak. Joe was predeceased by his parents, John & Frances, all of his siblings: Steve, Peter, Mary (Shull), Mike, Lena (Demchynski), Bill, Metro, Nick, and John, and daughter Shirley Semchyshyn. Prayer services were held on Friday evening, February 10th 2012 from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was held on Saturday, February 11th 2012 from Sacred Heart Church with Very Rev. Father Boris Kyba C.Ss.R. as Celebrant. Cantors, Wayne Boczulak and Ladmer Moskal led in the singing of the responses. Jamie Kozak was the Epistle-reader, the Crossbearer was Kellie Kozak, and Michele Kozak gave a eulogy. The interment followed in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with Jim, Larry, Dave and Glen Tymiak, Philip Antonishyn and Ernie Kozak serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in Joe's memory may be made to the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
