Obituary of Margaret Gustafson

GUSTAFSON - Mrs. Margaret Gustafson of Yorkton, widow of Carl passed away January 4, 2012 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home at the age of 94 years. Margaret Anna Gustafson was born October 15, 1917, the fourth daughter of Chris and Anna Fredrickson of Theodore, SK. She attained her Grade 9 education at Sandy River School. She was united in marriage to Carl Gustafson on October 15, 1938 at Theodore. The couple lived in Theodore until 1997 when they moved to Yorkton. While living in Theodore, Margaret was a part of the Theodore Lutheran Ladies Aid and for many years was the treasurer of the Hospital Auxillary. She helped Carl with the janitorial work at the School and extended room and board to a number of teachers. Margaret and Carl joined the Senior Citizen's Club at the Station as soon as it was organized. Carl passed away November 15, 1998 shortly after their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Following his death, Margaret moved to Fairview Arms in Yorkton where she enjoyed all the fellowship there. Playing cards, bingo and also her Church family, the Church of the Nazarene were part of her enjoyment. Margaret came from a very musical family where their dad taught all four daughters to read and play music. She was very proud to have her son Dale and grandson Jay carry on with music. Besides her husband Carl, Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Chris & Anna Fredrickson; three sisters Ella (2006), Leona (1995) and Violet (2000); her daughter-in-law Rose Marie Gustafson (Dec. 17, 2011); brothers-in-law Paul & Mabel Gustafson and Gus Anderson. Margaret leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory two sons, Dale (Mavis) Gustafson of Yorkton and Dennis Gustafson of Outlook; four grandchildren, Bradley Gustafson, Chestemere, AB, Jay Gustafson, Yorkton, Kristie (Darrold) Sincennes, Outlook and Ruth Gustafson, Cochrane, AB; eight great grandchildren, Brett & Ian Gustafson, Cheyanne, Jenna, Hallie & Landon Sincennes and Samara & Wyatt Butler; also a sister-in-law Vickie Anderson, Kelowna, BC and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. The Funeral Service was Monday, January 9th at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Pastor Rick Gibson officiating. The organist, Amanda Buhler led in the singing of the hymns, "How Great Thou Art", "The Old Rugged Cross", and "He Touched Me". The interment followed in the Theodore Village Cemetery with Lloyd Wunder, Leonard Jaigobin, Ken Aichele, Elmer Aichele, Gordon Minken and Gary Gustafson serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Margaret Gustafson may be made to the Church of the Nazarene as gifts of remembrance.
