Obituary of Barry Gordon Whitehouse

Barry Gordon Whitehouse was born to Ted and Doris Whitehouse on August 27, 1959, in Ituna, Saskatchewan. Barry grew up in the Jasmin and Kelliher districts which is where he received his schooling, graduating from Kelliher High School. After graduation, Barry moved to Saskatoon where he began working and subsequently dedicated over thirty years to a career that he was passionate about. In his younger years, Barry enjoyed playing fastball and curling. Barry extended his love and passion for curling through officiating events at the Provincial, National, and World levels which gave him a way of staying close to the game even after he hung up his curling shoes. He sat on the board of CURLSASK, where he held the role of President for one term. Barry was also an integral part of the organizing committees for the Brier’s in 2004 and 2012 that were held in Saskatoon. It was here that Barry met many well-known curlers and lifelong friends. His passion for the game was evident to all who knew him, and everyone could see the dedication that he had to the sport. Barry also loved to cheer on his favourite teams, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Toronto Blue Jays and most importantly, any team that his grandson played on. Barry had a huge heart and infectious laugh that drew people towards him. Everywhere that he went he would run into someone that he knew. Barry passed away on March 8, 2022. He was 62 years of age. Barry was predeceased by his Father (Ted), Mother (Doris), his brother (Donald) and sister (Carol). Left to cherish his memory are his sons Chad and Travis; grandson Liam, brother Ken (Jacquie); sister Janice (Dennis) Maksymovitch; many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
