Obituary of Annie Chaban

CHABAN - Annie Chaban of St. Paul Lutheran Home, Melville and formerly of Goodeve, entered her eternal rest on Monday, November 28, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville after a brief illness. She was 84 years. Annie was born on March 20, 1927 on the family farm in the Goodeve District of Saskatchewan, a daughter to Dymetro and Rosie (nee Pillipow) Chaban. Annie received her education at Crescent Bluff School and helped her parents on the farm. After receiving her education Annie remained home to help look after her parents and farm chores. After the death of her father Annie continued to look after her mother, and when she died Annie continued to reside on the farm until 2002 and moved into St. Anne's Christian Centre in Ituna. On June 6, 2005 she became a resident at St. Paul Lutheran Home. Annie enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, the outdoors, making perogies, visiting with family and friends and looked forward to the birthday parties the family made her. She was a faithful member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Goodeve as well as a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Ladies Committee. Predeceased by her parents Dymetro and Rosie; brothers, Bill and John and brother-in- law George Boyko. Annie leaves to cherish her memory her two brothers, Jim (Deloris) of Regina and Paul (Leona) of Melville; one sister, Olga Boyko (friend Richard) of Regina; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, December 3, 2011at 10:00 a.m. from the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Goodeve with Very Rev. Archpriest Peter Wasylenko Officiating. The Cantor was William Kozey. Daniel Dumalski was the crossbearer and Bannerbearers were Nick Andrusyk and Robin Sawchuk, Irvin Wersta was the Elder. Honorary bearers were everyone in attendance. The interment followed in the Holy Ghost Parish Cemetery with Tim Chaban, Tyson Chaban, Len Frohlick , Chris Frohlick, Marcus Frohlick and Michael Boyko as the casketbearers.
