Obituary of Katherine Keller
KELLER - Mrs. Katherine Keller of Yorkton, widow of Mike Keller entered eternal rest on October 24, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Katherine Elizabeth Keller was born on February 14, 1926, the third child of Paul and Mary (nee Pawelko) Kanciruk in Lemberg Saskatchewan. When Katherine was one year old, they moved to the family farm, three and one half miles west of Lemberg and received her education at Chickney School and then continued to help on the family farm. Katherine met and then married Mike Keller of Goodeve on November 6, 1945 and they farmed together on the farm in the Willowbrook district with their children. Katherine enjoyed crocheting, singing to her children when they were small, she especially enjoyed gardening, canning and preserving fruit and vegetables for her family. Katherine moved into Yorkton in 1980 and enjoyed babysitting, reading to her grandchildren, tending to her little garden and especially took great pride in her involvement with the C.W.L. and singing in the church choir of which she was so proud to be a part of. She also made many trips by bus and plane to Ontario to visit Donna and Henry, Wendy and Ian and the grandkids. Left to cherish her memory is Michael (Carla Schinkel) Keller of Willowbrook, SK, Donna and Henry Kula of Delaware, ON, David Keller of Calgary, AB, Wayne and Wanda Keller of Norris Arm North, NFLD, Wendy and Ian Maule of Strathroy, ON, Karen and Leif Ellefson of Regina, SK and Dale and Lisa Keller of Calgary, AB. Thirteen grandchildren, Scott and Jen Keller, Justin and Kristin Keller, Curtis Keller Anne Marie and Melissa Keller, James and Gary Keller, Ryan Maule (Lis), Jason and Carissa Maule, Tyler and Kimberly Kula, Jeff Kula (Carleigh), Miranda and Nathan Ellefson, 5 great grandchildren, Gage, Ashton, Kayla, Hunter and Miles. Also survived by brother Jim, sister Victoria Milford, Frank (Bev) Kanciruk, one brother-in-law, numerous sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Katherine was predeceased by her parents, husband Mike in 1973, her infant son James in 1946 and her son Ronald in 2000; numerous brothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. The Prayer Service was held on Thursday, October 27th and the Funeral Mass on Friday, October 28th at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Father Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. The music was provided by Diana Hornung (Prayers) and Pam Yaremko (Mass). The readers were Wayne Keller and Carla Schinkel. Members of St. Gerard's choir led in the singing of the hymns, "Glory & Praise to Our God", "Psalm 62", "Prayer of St. Francis", "Sing With All the Saints in Glory", "Song of the Angels" and "All Creatures of Our God and King". The interment followed in the Garden of Crucifixion at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Scott Keller, Justin Keller, Curtis Keller, Miranda Ellefson, Gary Keller and Nathan Ellefson serving as the casket bearers. Memorials honouring Katherine's life can be made to St. Gerard's Church Memorial Fund.
