A memorial folder from the funeral service may be printed under the "Memories" tab, then choose "Memorial Program". WILLIAMS - Howard was the sixth child of John "Bert" and Maggie Williams and was raised along with his three brothers Cliff, Jim, Roy and four sisters, Annie, Dorothy, Gladys and Irene on their family farm near Deloraine, Manitoba. Howard attended school at Hazeldeen where he was known to play "hooky" on occasion with his buddies. Howard met June Garez on November 22, 1945 and began his life as a husband and subsequently his career as a grain buyer at Dand, MB. Howard became a father in 1946 with the birth of his daughter Carole. In 1951 Howard, June and Carole moved to Broomhill, Manitoba where he worked for Manitoba Pool and fathered two more children, Sharon and Bryan. Howard loved the outdoors and took pride in his gardening. Howard's children fondly remember the horses, dogs and many other animals they had which provided them with many life lessons. Howard taught his children to be patient and that a job worth doing was worth doing well. Howard and his family spent their best years in Broomhill, moving only to Oak River and Woodnorth communities prior to his retirement to Springside, SK. in 1981. In his retirement, Howard enjoyed golfing and curling alongside his many friends and family. Howard was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and most recently by his daughter Carole Merriman. Left to mourn Howard is his wife June, his sister Irene of Boissevain, MB and brother Roy of Burnaby, BC, son Bryan and wife Debby of Rivers, MB, daughter Sharon of Fort Qu'Appelle, Carole's husband Barry of Springside, SK. and Howard's grandchildren, Michael and wife Sarah and children Keara and Keagan of Wilcox, SK., Alana and husband Stefan of Yorkton, SK., Joseph and wife Ashley of Edgeley, SK., Chris and husband Tyler and daughter Avery of Brandon, MB, Rob and wife Dawna and children Brooke and Taylor of London, ON. Howard was a strong, loving family man, some might say "stubborn" at times, a good man who lived his life quietly from day to day with dignity and pride. He greatly enjoyed gatherings with his family and friends to play a game of cards, chinese checkers, pictionary, spoons while retelling stories and memories; but most of all to share in the love and laughter that these gatherings symbolized. Howard will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from the graveside at the Broomhill Cemetery. A reception followed at the Broomhill WI Community Centre. Arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.
