Obituary of Marguerite Caldwell

CALDWELL - It is with great sadness that the Caldwell family announces the peaceful passing of our mother Marguerite Caldwell. She passed away September 23, 2011 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 92. Marguerite was born in "God's country", New Waterford, Nova Scotia, on July 14, 1919 to Frank and Suzanna Rice. She grew up in a loving family with four siblings. During World War II she met William (Bill) Caldwell, a soldier from Rokeby, SK. whom she married in 1946. They moved to Rokeby and then to Yorkton in 1952 where they raised their family of five on Peaker Avenue. Marguerite was a devoted parishioner of St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church and raised her children with Catholic values. She moved to Calgary in 2001 to be closer to family. Marguerite will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Carmella Murphy (Pat), Judy Taillon, Francis Caldwell (Catherine), Elaine Sykora (Dennis) and Bernice Frandle (Kevin). She is survived by thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Marguerite was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1971, her parents, her son-in-law Richard Taillon, her sisters Josephine, Veronica and Carmella and brother Richard. The family wishes to thank care givers Emebate and Brigida for their gentle care. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton. Rev. Father Francis Hengen officiated. Organist, Catherine Flaman led members of the Parish Choir in the singing of the hymns 'Be Not Afriad', Psalm 23, 'Only A Shadow', 'Eat This Bread', 'Song of the Angels', and 'I Am the Bread of Life'.
