Obituary of Helen Haddock

HADDOCK - Mrs. Helen Haddock of Yorkton, beloved wife of the late Daniel Haddock passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Aug. 16, 2011. Helen was born on October 15, 1916 to Mary (Madarash) and Steve Tkachuk in the Olesha Church district north of Buchanan. Helen grew up on the family farm and attended Monastyr School and helped on the family farm. In 1940 Helen moved to Toronto and started to work at a factory sewing uniforms for the soldiers and continued to work at the factory until her retirement. It was during this time she met her dream husband Daniel. They were married in May, 1953 and made their home in Toronto. They loved to travel to all parts of North America. Daniel predeceased Helen on October 14, 1991. Helen continued to live on her own in Toronto until she moved to Yorkton in 2001 and resided at the Bentley. Once her health failed, she moved into the Malinowski House Nursing Home. Helen is predeceased by her parents Mary & Steve Tkachuk and sisters & spouses, Ann (Bill) Krochak, Julia (Bill) Michaluk, Ethel (Constantine) Poroch, Lena (John) Brezinski; Brother 's, Joe Tkachuk, Mike Tkachuk, Ted (Ethel) Tkachuk; brothers in law, Julius Sushetski, Ed Haddock. Helen leaves to mourn sister Sophie Sushetski and sisters in law Mary Tkachuk, Marcia Tkachuk, brother in law Fred Haddock and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, August 20th at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Father Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. The pianist, Lorraine Lysak led members of St. Gerard's Funeral Choir in singing of the hymns, "Here I am Lord", "Psalm 23", "Blest are They", "Be Not Afraid", "Song of Farewell" and "Though the Mountains May Fall". The crossbearer was Jeremy Johnson and the lectors were Melissa Klapak and Shannon Yashcheshen. Serving as the gift bearers were Marian Belitsky, Nadine Yashcheshen and Connie Johnson. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Luke at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Tony Sushetski, Bob Johnson, Brian Belitsky, Ernie Brezinski, Dylan Johnson and Marvin Tkachuk serving as casket bearers. Memorials honouring Helen's life may be made to the Health Foundation as gifts of remembrance.
