Obituary of Harry Obuch

OBUCH - Mr. Harry Obuch a long time resident of Ituna passed away peacefully on Wed. July 27, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville at the age of 83 years. He was born Feb 15, 1928 in Ituna, middle son of John and Dora (nee Homeniuk). He was raised on the family farm and attended Churchill School. Upon completing his schooling he continued to live on the family farm and work with his father and brothers, eventually taking over the family farm after his father's retirement. On Nov 11, 1953 he married the love of his life Sophie Marshall and together they farmed, always working side by side. He especially loved raising cattle, chickens, horses and took great pride in his farming accomplishments. In 1990 they retired from farming and moved to Ituna. Together Harry and Sophie took numerous trips to Vancouver and Toronto travelling by train or car to visit relatives. They also took a bus trip to various places in the USA He loved life and what it offered him. Gardening was one of his passions. He was always smiling while driving his John Deere tractor to till gardens or blow snow. He was a member of St.Nicholas UKR. Catholic Church Churchill and Sacred Heart Church in Ituna. He was always helping to maintain the church or beautify the grounds. Due to failing health he became a resident of Pioneer Lodge, Ituna in Feb, 2011. He was predeceased by mother Dora 1949, father John 1967, brothers Russell 1999, Alex 2001, stepbrothers Bill, Tony, Mike, Dan and John Hluchman. He leaves to cherish his memory wife Sophie of 57 years, sister-in-law Ann Obuck of Saskatoon and Sophie's sister Emily and brother Stanley, and numerous nieces and nephews. Prayers were held on Sunday, July 31st and the Requiem Divine Liturgy on Monday, August 1st at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna with Very Rev. Fr. Boris Kyba, C.Ss.R.as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Wayne Boczulak, Ladimir Moskal and parish choir members. The epistle was read by Muriel Fedorowich. Serving as cross bearer was Lawrence Herasymiuk. The interment followed in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with Darrell Obuck, David Obuck, Gordon Obuck, Eugene Fedorowich, Adam Milo and Dave Elash serving as the casket bearers.
