Obituary of Mike Boychuk

BOYCHUK - Mike Boychuk beloved husband of Beatrice Boychuk of Ituna passed away July 27, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville. Mike was born to John and Maria Boychuk on September 15, 1930, in Regina, Saskatchewan. He grew up in the Hardrock district, where he attended Beaverside School, and helped his parents on the farm. When not quite twenty years of age, he went to Ontario, first living in Toronto where he worked in hardware, then to Mount Forest, working at Mount Forest Casket, and finally to Hanover. It was here that he met his future wife, Beatrice, in 1970. Married in 1975; they came to Saskatchewan for their honeymoon, and decided to live in Ituna. Initially he found employment at Morris Rod-Weeder and later worked for Potash Construction. When he retired in 1990; he and Beatrice ran a restaurant in Ituna. Never a man to be idle, he pursued many avocations: among them; carpentry, gardening, mechanics, and music. His love of repairing musical instruments culminated with his crafting of Cymbaly (Dulcimers) in his final years. Mike and Beatrice were blessed with two daughters, Blazhena and Blanka; his pride, joy, and focus of his unconditional love. After a period of illness, he fell asleep on July 26 and peacefully entered into eternal rest on the morning of July 27, 2011. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 36 years, Beatrice; his daughters, Blazhena (Matthew) Leigh, and Blanka (Jason) Hollinger; his grandson and apple of his eye, Gavin (Leigh); his sister, Anne (Bohach) and brother, Bill (Ethel) Boychuk, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his: mother, Maria, father, John, and older brother, Matt. Funeral Services were held on Monday, August, 1, 2011 at 2:00 pm from St. Stanisalus Church in Ituna with Very Rev. Andrew Piasta of the Orthodox Church in America officiating. The responses were sung by Moira Stoll. Mervin Patron served as the crossbearer. Icon Bearers were Joshua Roach and Holly Stewart. Troy Roach, Dennis Kuschak, Dennis Zdan, John Musyj, Harvey Kolodziejak and David Stoyko served as casket bearers. Honourary bearers were all those that shared in Mike's life. Interment will follow in the Holy Ascension Orthodox Cemetery. Condolences can be forwarded to the family at baileysfuneralhome.com . Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home. Forever remaining in the hearts and memories of all of us who knew him, we pray that he may be granted a blessed rest and that our merciful Lord make his memory to be eternal.
