Obituary of Robert Tymiak

TYMIAK - Mr. Robert Tymiak, resident of the St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2011 at the age of 80 years. Robert was born on September 17, 1930 in the Jasmin district to Ukrainian parents, Mike & Anne Tymiak. He attended Jasmin School until Grade 8. Robert walked to school or if the weather was unfit, he travelled with horse and cutter. Robert enjoyed the farm life. In his younger years he spent some of his winters working in Ontario and B. C. He also operated the Hotel in Stockholm, SK for a period of time. But the love of farming brought him home to help his Dad. They farmed together until 1970 when his parents moved into Ituna, SK. At this time, Robert met and married Marjorie (Bircham) Ruzycki on February 7, 1970 at the Ituna Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church. The weather was a balmy 42 degrees F and the very next day the temperature was minus 30 F! Robert & Marge continued grain farming as well as raising cattle, pigs and chickens. After retirement in 1998, they continued to live on the farm where a dream hobby of Robert's was raising Quarter Horses. Robert & Marge spent numerous hours, horse back riding as well as dancing and travelling. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his earlier years, Robert spent many happy hours caroling for Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church of Jasmin during the Christmas season. With declining health, Robert moved into St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville on April 7, 2010, where he was lovingly taken care of. Robert passed away on Monday July 11, 2011 at the age of 80 years.
