Obituary of Florence Hardy
HARDY- Florence Hardy was born June 15, 1908 at St. Hilaire, Quebec to Ulric and Roberta (Massé) Roberts. In 1918 the family moved to settle on a farm two miles north-east of Melville. She attended Fairland School and then remained at home to help her parents until her marriage to Henry Hardy in October 1940. They resided on a farm in the Oak Hill district north of Melville where they raised their family. She took an active part in their farm and in the local church and school. In 1970 they retired from farming and moved to Melville. Florence enjoyed spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens and in her kitchen baking. For several years she was actively involved caring for the flowers in St. Henry's Church and was a lifetime member of the CWL. Florence became a resident of St. Paul Lutheran Home in 2003 and remained there until her passing on June 29, 2011. Florence was predeceased by her mother in 1928, her father in 1946, her husband Henry in 1987, six sisters, Juliette in 1976,Yvonne in 1988, Aurore in 1992, Jeannette and Aline in 1993 and Berthe in 1996, four brothers, George in 1915, Bruno in 1977, Maurice in 1984 and Guy in 1994. Florence leaves to celebrate her life her sons, Maurice (Linda) and Ron (Noreen) all of Melville, two grandchildren, Kevin Hardy (Janine Smits) of Melville and Tricia Hardy of Swift Current, her sister, Antoinette Bolme of Saskatoon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Prayer Services were held on Monday, July 4, 2011 at 7:30 p.m from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home Melville, Saskatchewan with Laverne Chapiel and Rosallie Woloschuk Presiding. Len Varga led in the singing of the hymns, "Prayer of St. Francis" and "In The Garden". The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Henry's Roman Catholic Church in Melville, Saskatchewan with Father Frances Hengen as the Celebrant. Kevin and Tricia Hardydid the readings and Annette Klassen did the Intercessions. Gift bearers were Ruby Flaman and Yvette Pankoski and Eucharistic Minister was Ed Pilon. Guitarist Len Varga and Jo Anne Peterson led in the singing of the hymns, "Amazing Grace", "On Eagle's Wings", "Ave Maria" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee". Honor Guard were members of the Catholic Women's League. Honorary Bearers were everyone who knew and loved Florence. The interment followed in the St. Henry's Parish Cemetery with Kevin Hardy, Tricia Hardy, Annette Klassen, David Hardy, Howard Pankoski and Donald Hrycyshen. Arrangement were by Bailey's Funeral Home, Melville Service Information
