Obituary of Herve Boutin

Hervé Boutin January 21, 1911 - June 2, 2011 With great sadness, the family of Hervé Boutin of Melville, Saskatchewan formerly of St. Victor, announces his death on Thursday, June 2, at the age of 100 years. Hervé was born in Holyoke, Massachussetts, on January 21, 1911, to Jean-Baptiste and Louisa Boutin (née Désy), the third of six children. Hervé lived in Holyoke until 1918, when his family moved to a farm located four miles south of St. Victor, Saskatchewan. There, he worked as a farmer until his retirement in 1973. Hervé married Évéline Guay on January 29, 1951. They raised two daughters, Yvette and Dianne. They moved to Melville in 2002. Hervé enjoyed a vibrant, involved life until his illness in December, 2010. Hervé was a farmer, a self-taught mechanic and carpenter, and a committed community man. He and his brother, Bob, farmed together for many years. Hervé could fix almost any piece of machinery. He contributed much to his community as a councillor for the rural municipality, a Saskatchewan Wheat Pool delegate, a member of the Knights of Columbus (Lisieux), chair of the St. Victor Regional Park Board, mayor of St. Victor, and in many other ways. He was devoted to his family, and a generous friend. Through his kind, humble, and gentle demeanor, his quiet wisdom, and his gracious manner, he blessed everyone he met. He was a man of deep faith and, as a farmer, lived his life very much within the circle of God's grace. Hervé is survived by his daughters, Yvette (Elmer) Beutel of Melville and Dianne (Gerard) Woloschuk of Saskatoon; his grandchildren Daniel (Lindsay) Beutel of Calgary, Dominique Beutel (Andy Kenyon) of Winnipeg, Julian Beutel of Brandon; Paul, David, and Celeste Woloschuk of Saskatoon; his sisters-in-law Yvette Beauregard of Regina, Lorraine Dubord of Vancouver, and Cécile Boutin of Assiniboia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
