Obituary of Julia Ulmer

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Julia (Judy) Ulmer on May 28, 2011, when Mom's battle with Alzheimer's was over. Judy leaves behind her son Ron (Jo-Ann), daughter Diane (Richard), Grandaughter Kara (Brad), Great-grandson Nathan. Mom also leaves three sisters, Irene (Grant), Ethel and Helen (Jack) along with two brothers, Mike (Freda) and Frank (Vivian), numerous nieces and nephews and many friends who will all miss her. Judy was predeceased by her beloved husband Ernest (1986), parents Charles and Anne, brother's Frank, Steve, Andy, Paul and sisters, Anne, Margaret and Mathilda. Judy and Ernie began their life together in 1945 on the family farm in Colmer, then moved to Otthon in 1959 and later Yorkton. Mom enjoyed gardening, fishing, travel, bowling, golf, dancing and of course playing cards. Mom joined the Legion and in 1993 was the Auxillary flag bearer, carrying the flag for the Remembrance Day ceremonies. Judy was an active member for the Legion and the York Lake Ladies Club. Mom was a long time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Mom was an avid bowler and was the bowler of the month in 2003 and Mom often won high singles for bowling. In 1994 Mom's bowling team competed in the National Finals and was House Champions, Mom was also Bowler of the Year in 1995-1996. Judy was a friend and giver to all who met her and will be dearly missed. Thankfully we have many great memories to cherish. The last years, Judy was cared for at the Yorkton District Nursing Home. We would like to thank the staff for the care given to Mom. The funeral service was held June 1, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Fred Schneider officiating. Diane Hudy (daughter) gave the eulogy along with Lorna Tressel (niece & Goddaughter) giving a reflection of Judy's life. The musical selection "In the Garden" was given by Frank & Freda Abday, along with Carla Laycock as the organist. Casket Bearers were, Barry Elwood, Roger Weir, Bill Ulmer, Bill J. Ulmer, Ross Tressel, and Garth Erbach. Interment followed in Yorkton Memorial Gardens.
