Obituary of Lorene Draper

DRAPER - Lorene Merle Draper (Worden) was born on June 4, 1925, to Morley and Olive Worden at Melville, SK. On October 8, 1946 she was united in marriage to Eric Bradley Draper of Yorkton. They farmed in the Fonehill district for 28 years. Merle was a devoted wife and mother, who supported her family with strength for many years on the farm, and later in Yorkton. She also worked as a Nurse's Aide at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home from 1968 to 1985. Merle battled illness from a very early age and was hospitalized in Melville, Yorkton and Winnipeg many times over the years. In 2005 she was diagnosed with dementia, necessitating a move to the Theodore Health Care Center, where she had resided until her passing on Thursday, May 19, 2011. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Eric on April 13, 2003; brother Bruce (Ruth) Worden; sisters Marie in infancy & Isabel Peterson, and a great grandson, Eric Bradley Andrusiek. Merle leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory: son Bradley (Bernadette) Draper of Springside and their family Rashelle (Darryl) Andrusiek of Theodore, Barton (Chantelle) Draper of Saskatoon; daughter Gaile (David) Reddekopp Saskatoon and their family Jean (Reddekopp) Draper of Airdrie, Bernice (John) Harder of Airdrie; daughter Marie (Les) Peterson and their family, Deanna Gordon of Saskatoon, Tina Hartridge of Kelowna, William (Belinda) Kwiatek (Hartridge) of Winnipeg; daughter Glenda (Cliff) Chutskoff of Shellbrook and their family Carly (Stephan) Bunka of Saskatoon and Kristina Chutskoff of Calgary; daughter Bonnie (David) Moar and their family Tyler (Candace) and Chad of Winnipeg; sister: Mary (Bill) Ziegler of Penticton, BC; brother-in-law, Herbert Peterson of Emerson, MB; 13 great grandchildren: Tahnee & Alexa Harder, Airdrie, Graceanne & Jakob Bruce (Hartridge) of Kelowna; Erika, Kristen and Amber Gordon of Saskatoon, Bryce and Brighton Kwiatek (Hartridge) of Winnipeg; Luke and Eric Andrusiek of Theodore; Jacob and Aiden Draper of Saskatoon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service was held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Richard Gibson officiating. Daughter Gaile gave the eulogy. Organist, Karen Delong led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'Amazing Grace' and 'Trust and Obey'. Special music was provided by Karen Delong, Kathleen Gibson and Anna Ingham, 'Surely Goodness and Mercy', 'In the Garden', and 'Leaning on the Everlasting Arms'. The interment took place in the Garden of Memories with grandson Chad Moar serving as the urnbearer. A reception followed in the Family Centre reception room following the interment.
