Obituary of Anne Stone

Anne Stone (nee Achtemichuk) was born on October 18, 1916 at Edmonton, AB. At the age of two she moved with her parents and older sister Pauline to the Rhein district of Saskatchewan. She completed her schooling in Rhein. As a young woman Anne went to work at a bakery in Yorkton. While working in Yorkton, she met Reginald Stone, and the two were married on March 26, 1939 at St. Andrew's United Church. Reg & Anne resided in Yorkton, where Reg was employed with the CO-OP Creamery. Sons Grant and Ken were both born in Yorkton. In 1943 Reg took a transfer to Preeceville and the family re-located there for the next 26 years. A third son Garth was born in Preeceville. Anne took an active interest in the community, she was involved in the local United Church, the Eastern Star (for over 50 years) and the CGIT. Her hobbies included growing flowers, gardening, sewing clothes for herself, and curling. The family eventually moved to Canora and resided there for nine years. In 1976 Reg and Anne moved to Yorkton and Reg became the Dairy Supervisor for Dairy Producers. He retired in 1980, and following that time Reg and Anne enjoyed travelling and camping during the summer months. Upon Reg's death in June of 2004, Anne moved to the Queen Elizabeth Court and resided there until February of 2011, when she became a resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home. Anne passed away on Sunday, April 30th at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 94 years of age. Besides her husband Reg, Anne was predeceased by her parents; sister Pauline; and by brothers John and Alex. She is survived by her three sons; Grant (Iris) of Saskatoon; Ken (Bernadette) of Kamloops, and Garth (Cathy) of Canmore, AB; seven grandchildren: Berkley (Allison), Scot (Sandra); Todd (Shantelle), Alana (Cory), Shawn (Holly), Sean (Chris), & Kim. Also nine great grandchildren; sisters: Marjorie Beedle of Regina; and Martha McNichol of Estevan; brothers & sisters-in-law, and numerous other relatives and friends.
