Obituary of Marie Anne Wilson
WILSON - Anne Marie Wilson (nee Hirsch) was born in Lampman, Saskatchewan on September 1924. Anne grew up on a farm near Hitchcock and attended Golden Heart School. As a young rd adult she moved into Estevan and worked at the local store. In 1947 on Anne's 23 birthday she married Gordon Wilson. Anne and Gordon were married for 62 years when Gordon passed away in 2009. In 1951 Anne and Gordon along with their two sons, Douglas and David moved to Melville. The family continued to grow with the addition of Judy Ann, Ron and James. Anne was very active in the parish of St. Henry's and received a CWL certificate of appreciation for fifty years of service. Ann and Gordon were involved with the Evenings for Engaged workshops for approximately 10 years during the 80's. For a brief stint in the 70's Anne worked as an aide at St. Paul Nursing Home in Melville. Anne's forte in life was organizing large family events at their home in Melville. To prepare for these family gatherings she would bake and cook for days. Anne was an excellent baker and cook because love was the main ingredient. Many days were spent with family and friends enjoying square dancing, fishing, cards, and bowling. Anne's sense of humor, good nature, and her eye for a bargain always shone through especially at garage sales. In later years Anne enjoyed sewing for her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Anne expressed a joy for living and always found a reason to celebrate the little things in life. Anne and Gordon celebrated their 40th anniversary with a trip of a lifetime to Europe. In 2003 Anne survived a stroke which left her unable to remain in their family home. Anne spent a brief time in St. Paul Nursing Home in Melville. In 2007 Anne and Gordon moved to Yorkton where she resided in the Yorkton Nursing Home. Anne spent many quiet hours contently visiting with family and friends, Gordon always at her side. On April 23, 2011, at the age of 86, surrounded by family Anne joined her Heavenly Father and reunited with Gordon. Anne leaves behind her family consisting of 5 children, their spouses, 15 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Anne was predeceased by her husband Gordon, her parents Peter and Anna Hirsch. Brother and sister Matthew and Emily in infancy, brothers Robert, Matthew and sister Emily. Anne is survived by her sister Francis Gervais. Celebrating Anne's life are her children Doug and Monique Wilson, David and MaryAnne Proch-Wilson, Judy and Jim Engdahl, Ron and Jackie Wilson, and James and Wendy Wilson. Anne's grandchildren, Giselle (Calvin) Sever, Michelle and Ryan Wilson; Matthew, Shane and Stacey Proch- Wilson; Melissa Engdahl, Douglas (Celeste) Engdahl, Adam (Shauna) Engdahl, and Brendan (Krista) Engdahl; Bartley Wilson and Jinelle (Kelly) Bierwagen; Chelsea, Katelyn and Bryce Wilson, Anne's great grand children; Monique and Mitchell Sever; Hannah, Cedar and Tristan Engdahl; Hunter and Emma Engdahl; Deacon Engdahl; Kincaid and Aiden Bierwagen. Prayer Services were held on Friday April 29, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home in Melville with Lottie Wihak and Olga Yachyshen as the Presiders. Guitarist Len Varga led in the singing "Our Father" and "On The Wings of A Dove". The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Henry's Roman Catholic Church in Melville, Saskatchewan with Rev. Father Antoni Degutis O.M.I. as the Celebrant. James Wilson and Doug Wilson did the readings and Judy Anne Engdahl did the Intercessions. Gift bearers were Ron Wilson and David Proch-Wilson and Rosallie Woloschuk was the Eucharistic Minister. Organist Len Gadica led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "On Eagle's Wings", "Prayer of St. Francis", "In The Garden" and "This Little Light of Mine". The Catholic Women's League formed an honor guard. Honorary bearers were all who knew Anne and all whose hearts she touched. The interment followed in the St. Henry's Parish Cemetery with granddaughters Giselle Sever, Melissa Engdahl, Michelle Wilson, Jinelle Bierwagen, Stacey Proch-Wilson, Chelsea Wilson and Katelyn Wilson as the casketbearers. .
