Obituary of Colin Joyce

Mr. Colin Archibald Joyce beloved husband of Louise passed away peacefully on Sunday April 17, 2011 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of 78 years. Colin was born in Yorkton on February 12, 1933 an only child to Archibald and Barbara (nee Goddard) Joyce. Colin went to school in Orkney and Yorkton. He then started to farm a short distance N.W. of Yorkton. He loved farming; that was his life and enjoyed his farm friends, neighbours and exchanging "farm talk" with all of them. As a young man Colin joined the Yorkton Exhibition Association as a junior director and remained with the organization through various levels until he retired and became a life member. He was also a member of the Sask Wheat Pool, Yorkton CO-OP, Orkney Historical Society, Yorkton Curling Club and Westview United Church. After he retired he joined "Citizens on Patrol" and was with them for several years. In 1981 Colin met Louise Chernoff Scherschel and in 1982 they were united in marriage at Westview United Church and settled to a life in the country. Colin and Louise spent many years in southern California and Mexico. They travelled through out the U.S.A., S.E. Asia, Canada and the Maritimes. There were many memorable camping trips with family to various lake resorts in Sask, Alberta and B.C. Very special to them both were trailer trips with family through east and the west coast of U.S.A. In later years winter destinations were to Vancouver Island especially Victoria, their favourite area. Colin was very proud of his acquired family: step - son Steven (Linda), grandchildren: Brent, Bryce and Erika Scherschel. He found great joy in all their activities and accomplishments. Colin and Louise retired from the farm to a condo in Yorkton and eventually to the Bentley Retirement Community. Colin spent a short time in the Yorkton and District Nursing Home and one week at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre . He was predeceased by his father Archibald and mother Barbara. He leaves to cherish his memory and to celebrate his life, his dear wife Louise; step - son Steven (Linda); beloved step grandchildren: Brent, Bryce and Erika Scherschel; cousins Susan Baluk and Ian Duff along with numerous good friends.
