Obituary of Florence Bode

BODE - Florence Betsy Bode passed away on April 14, 2011 at the Foam Lake Jubilee Home. She was years ninety-three years of age. Florence was born on May 2, 1917 in the Newburn district, north of Sheho, the eldest of six children to Simon and Gina (nee Wodahl) Anderson. She helped at home for several years and later in the early 40's worked at the Foam Lake Hospital. In 1947 Florence married Frank Collinski and they lived in Foam Lake. Frank and Florence looked after boarders for many years. Frank passed away in 1984. In 1991 she married Harry Bode with whom she shared companionship until his death in 1998. Florence was a true Saskatchewan pioneer who believed in hard work and the value of being thrifty. She was an excellent cook and a talented seamstress. She was a "second Mom" to her brother, William who lived with her at Foam Lake during his early school years. Florence will be remembered for her pleasant character and willingness to help anyone in need. Florence was admitted to the Foam Lake Jubilee Home in February, 2003 and passed away on April 14, 2011. She was predeceased by her parents, Simon in 1951 and Gina in 1985; husbands, Frank and Harry; sister Grace in 1937 and brothers, Linus in 1988 and Arthur in 2009. Florence is survived by two brothers, Russell (Dorothy) Anderson and William (Jeanette) Anderson of Peace River, AB; two sisters-in-law Dorothy (late Linus) Anderson of Peace River, AB and Julia (late Arthur) Anderson of Foam Lake; a nephew Mervin (Stephanie) Anderson of Peace River, AB and two nieces Heather Anderson of Leduc, AB and Colleen (Neil) Herzog of Grand Prairie, AB. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, April 21, 2011 from the Legion Hall in Foam Lake with Agnes Smiley, Muriel Henderson, Mildred Ausenhus and Karen McCrae officiating. The pianist, Jan Cobb led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "It Pays To Serve Jesus", "There Hath Not Failed" and "When Life Is Ended". Interment followed in the Foam Lake Cemetery with Paul Moore, George Cobb, Don Hermanson, Orrin Novak, Roy Novak and Ray Kostenuk serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Florence may be made to the Foal Lake Jubilee Home as gifts of remembrance. Interment Details
