Obituary of Mary Pereyma

PEREYMA - Mary Pereyma of Melville, Saskatchewan and formerly of Goodeve widow of the late William Pereyma, entered her eternal rest on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital. She was 98 ½ years of age. Mary was born on September 16, 1912 in the Goodeve district of Saskatchewan, a daughter to John and Eva (nee Fedyshyn) Burak. Mary received her education at Halech School and helped her parents on the family farm. Mary was united in marriage to William Pereyma on June 3, 1929 at St. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in the Fenwood district. The couple first resided with William's parents farm for 7 years then purchased their own land in 1937. In 1976 the couple retired and moved into Miller Apartments at Melville. William passed away in 1996 and Mary th continued to reside at the apartments until January of 2009 and moved to Heritage Villa on 5 Ave. She was an active member of St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed cooking, gardening, bowling, reading and playing cards. She loved company and visitors were always welcome and never left hungry. Predeceased by her Parents, her husband William, son John, daughter Betty, brother Mike J Burak, son-in-law George Guenther, brother-in-law Mike Elash and sister-in-law Annie Burak. Mary leaves to cherish her memory her children, Sophie Guenther of Melville; Edward (Myrna) Pereyma of Melville and Jeannette (Steve) Karkut of Ituna; grandchildren Georgina (Ken), Edward (Sherri), Shannon (George) Debbie (George), Colin, Rick, Patti (Shayne), Cory (Laurie), Laura (Terry), Jeff (Becky) and Jennifer (Jim); son-in-law Brian Roberts; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sister Ann Elash; sisters-in-law Anne Derkatch and Blanche Abello; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Prayer Services were held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Goodeve. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church with Very Rev. Fr. Boris Kyba C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The epistle reader was Laura Ell and the crossbearer was Austin Guenther. The responses were sung by Wayne Boczulak and Ladmer Moskal. Honorary bearers were everyone who knew and loved Mary. The interment followed in the St. Henry's R.C. Cemetery in Melville with Ed Guenther, Cory Pereyma, Jeff Karkut, Bob Burak, Terry Ell and Jim Norminton as the casketbearers. Arrangements were by Bailey's Funeral Home, Melville.
